Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who was convicted of murdering George Floyd during a 2020 arrest that set off a wave of protests, was stabbed at a federal prison in Tucson, Ariz., on Friday, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.

Its so weird that some people will defend a guy like Chauvin when his actions were clearly excessive and an abuse of power. Cases of excessive use of force have been on the increase for most years. FOIA'd video evidence showing police behavior in cases where the individual who is confronted was killed exhibits a trigger-happy nature. In general, there are countless examples of law enforcement exhibiting a lack of knowledge of how to handle confrontation, a lack of knowledge of basic law, and just an interest in doing things that will escalate a situation (e.g., cuffing people who they have no reason to believe have committed crimes, the threat of detainment without cause to coerce citizens to do what they want them to do, etc.). Then they wonder why citizens prefer to avoid interactions with law enforcement. When confronted by these idiots, say as little as possible, remind them that you do not answer questions, and if they escalate, request a lawyer, pronto!
