Working class people use apps as do crackheads on welfare.

How can a welfare crackhead afford a cell phone and I can't?
I’m certain you could afford one. It’s not that expensive.
I'd have to give up something else. I can't think of anything I'd be willing to let go of, just to pretend I'm middle class.
You are living so paycheck to paycheck that you can’t afford an additional $50-70 a month you’re telling us? Or even $15 like was suggested above for something that can simply make calls?

Even the most downtrodden folks have cell phones these days. Class has nothing to do with having a cell phone.

I don't know what I could give up. Can't give up golf. I don't golf. Can't give up gambling. I don't gamble. Can't give up sweets. I don't eat sweets. Can't give up Chinese food. I hate Chinese food. Can't give up movie night. I don't go to movies. Maybe I could stop paying taxes.

Why must you give up something?

Middle class shouldn't come easy. A person should have to make sacrifices. We don't have access to the Bernie Sanders conversion therapy here.

You own two places. You might actually be UPPER middle class.

The place in FL is a mobile home. That makes us trailer trash. Doesn't get much more working class than that.

A man that buys a new car every 3 years can't afford a cell phone?

Four years, actually. We all have our priorities. A cell phone isn't very high up on my list of priorities.

You act like you can’t afford one and nobody is buying what you are selling.

I have radios that are each worth in the hundreds of dollars. I suppose the proceeds from the sale of one of the radios could be put towards the purchase of an iphone. But if I'm only going to use it to order a burger, it doesn't seem like a practical investment.

Now you are acting like you received your last ever infusion of income 20 years ago and will never receive another dime as long as you live…

I think it's fine if he doesn't want one, but the "can't afford one" is not the real issue:
