Getting a painting appraised

So we spent Saturday hitting a bunch of yard sales. Bought a painting for next to nothing. I think $3.
Got to looking at it. It had a signature on it. C. Inness. Googled it, found a Clara Inness was a painter that passed in 1932. Found some of her paintings on sale. The signature sure looks the same.

The paintings I found for sale are going for $50-600. I am Clueless in Seattle about art. Has anyone ever had a painting appraised? If so, how did you go about doing it? I suppose if the Antique Road Show was coming near to us, I would haul it to that. Looking online, I think ARS has gone to hiatus since the Covid came around.

Thanks.

I would think an owner of an art gallery could point you in the right direction. Definitely not my bag.
