So today at the Walmart I picked up some 50ml bottles of whiskey to try.

Maker's Mark 90 Proof

Crown Royal 80 Proof

Old Forester 86 Proof

Seagrams 7 80 Proof

So far I've had the Maker's Mark out of the group. It's good, has that alcohol burn. I like it. I'll try the rest later.

This seems like a cry for help. How are you doing? Have you been out hiking or fishing lately?

He'll be fine. Four 1 .6 oz. bottles of booze is more of an experiment than a cry for help.

Seagrams 7 is not a sipping whisky - there is not enough flavors to make it worth your time. With 7-Up or another mixer, it's perfectly fine.

I was referring to the Brand's not the quantity.

None of those are what I would call "sipping whiskey" -

Try

Angel's Envy, or Angel's Envy Rye
Four Roses Single Barrel
Makers Mark 46
Basil Hayden's and Basil Hayden's Rye

Locally, Mammoth makes some decent whiskey (haven't had their bourbon yet, don't think it's easy to get shipped into the nursing home right now)

Drink Recipe of the Day - The Kentucky Mule.

2 parts Ginger Beer (non alcoholic)
1 part Bourbon (you can use any of the 50ml bottles you got)
Squeeze one lime

Serve over ice.

Not that big of a whisky drinker but on our last night out at some friends B.C. (Before Covid) the host made Smoky Old Fashionds. Very smooth! Not sure of the Bourbon, guessing it was a nice one, but amazing how smooth the smoking made the drink.

I'm drinking a straight rye with Cherry concentrate at the moment.

I'm just sampling this way as it's much cheaper to try before you commit to buy a fifth. Usually I buy Evan Williams, Jim Beam, McMaster's, and Black Velvet. I do enjoy me some Jameson.

Jameson is great, as is Tullamore Dew at a similar price point.

I've seen the Traverse City whiskey at Meijer but I'm not sure it's worth the price. It would be nice to find a shooter for a buck or two to try it first.

Eh, there's better whiskey out there. Come over and sample before you buy it.

TC Whiskey used to pour Mid West but now they are bottling their own, and it's not as good.
