I was talking with my son last night. He works in health care. I said most people wont die, they'll get over it.

He told me you don't get over it. It does permanent damage to the lungs.
Wonderful... and without any enjoyment first...

But usually with something smoky and flavored... I’m not sure who enjoys a virus damaging their lungs...

With the new Federal guidelines of groups of no larger than 10... how can any retail establishment be open!? I know grocery stores are important, but are employees being put at risk by staying open while restaurants, bars, casinos, etc are being shut down? How can you protect the workers of one group but not another?

I think you should wear gloves even if boss doesn't want you too.

My wife was also talking with someone in the health care field who said that most people will contract the virus, although the majority will not develop symptoms or fall ill. People with strong immune systems will likely experience no symptoms at all, and the virus will die off in about 14 days.

The downside is that people who contract it will be carriers regardless of whether they themselves get sick. The people who need to be especially cautious are those with compromised immunity....mostly the elderly (people over 60), and those with chronic health conditions such as pulmonary disease, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. The risk curve will slowly subside as the virus runs its course, but it will likely take some time (several months at least). There will eventually be a vaccine, but that too will take time to develop and test before it's ready to go.

Being a Type II diabetic, I'm monitoring my glucose levels very closely, as better control means higher immunity. I haven't become a hermit, although I'm limiting my time in high-traffic areas such as stores and the like. Basically pick up what I need and move on. I'm not overly-worried....just using a little extra caution these days.

Good idea. I wonder if persons falling ill got two things at once?

It’s possible, not likely but possible.

Getting pneumonia or double pneumonia while having it sounds like it’s fairly common...

I have decided to take an additional week off work using some vacation time. So I'll go back in mid April. I feel like I'm doing the right thing. I can;t control what others do, I can control what I do. With so many people thinking this is vacation time because they are laid off, I fear for my safety. The concentration of covid-19 cases are in the Detroit metro area. When those people come up north they are potentially bringing the virus up here with them. I want no part of that. I've been off work since March 25th.

I'm under mandatory quarantine right now and I'm going stir crazy.

I don't want to go shopping or attend a party. I just want to go for a walk or a bike ride. I know I could do it safely by just avoiding other people along the way.

But our city has set up a snitch line and one of the neighbours would be sure to rat me out. So, I go out and walk circles in my yard for about an hour every day.

Curious who is going to enforce the mandatory quarantine and what is the penalty for violating it? I fully understand not going to stores or anywhere you are likely to come in close contact with others, but it should not prevent you from going outside at all. If you do actually have it and you are stuck inside a dwelling you could make your situation worse by coughing or sneezing and rebreathing that same air. Outside that possibility is virtually eliminated which also means a quicker recovery for you.

There is no evidence that we have it or that we have been in contact with any infected person. There's just a rule that says anyone entering Canada from another country must self quarantine for 14 days. We can go outdoors, but only on our own property.

It's unbelievable how fearful and paranoid people are here. There have been incidents of public shaming of people who are perceived as being too careless. My wife's sister got screamed at in the supermarket because her cart touched another woman's cart.

Residents have threatened vigilante action against strangers they see on their street. So, if I'm seen outside my fence, I have no doubt someone would call the snitch line. That would probably get me a warning and a repeat offense would get me a $750.00 fine.

Great to be back home in the Police State.

Goodness... our stay at home order is so loose you could drive a truck through some of it.. but one of the big ones is that as long as you observe the 6 feet thing and want to be outside walking up and down the street exercising that’s ok.
