You sure it's not the official beer of the FCC?

That's not a beer.
You said it was a "beer picture."

Tastes nearly as bad as beer

See, that yutz went and ruined this thread. First he/she posts a picture of Pepsi Max that isn't beer and now TT posts a picture of Ultra Light. That's not beer either.

Ultra Light? Is that what that is? I didn't even know. It's just a pic I came across on a page I was visiting.

John and Hugh Labatt, grandsons of founder John K. Labatt, launched Labatt 50 in 1950 to commemorate 50 years of partnership. The first light-tasting ale introduced in Canada, Labatt 50 was Canada's best-selling beer until 1979 when, with the increasing popularity of lagers, it was surpassed by Labatt Blue. Labatt 50 is fermented using a special ale yeast, in use at Labatt since 1933. Specially-selected North American hops and a good balance of dryness, complemented by a fruity taste, provide Labatt 50 with all the distinguishing features of a true ale.

You nailed it. For many years, 50 has had a reputation as an old man's beer. Once, when I ordered it in a bar, the barmaid jokingly said to me "I'm going have to see some ID, Sir. I can't sell it to you unless you're at least 75."

In recent months however, 50 has been gaining some traction among the uptown hipsters in Toronto, When their craft beers started going mainstream, they had to latch on to something new so they adopted this obscure brand.

They're a fickle lot. In another six months they'll be drinking Hoegaarden.

The product (50) they produce today, since the buyout, isn't at all like the original.

I think the "hipsters" would like the original better.
