Re: Milton
Fingers crossed for you TT. I've been watching some of the newscasts live (BTW - AppleTV's "News On" app makes it super easy to watch live newscasts throughout the country) and even the veteran meteorologists who've seen a storm or two in their time appear to be outright frightened. Not hype-the-ratings frightened, like come to Jesus frightened.
I have a number of friends who winter there and almost certainly looking at a loss of their homes. Just glad to know they staying put rather than rushing in to protect their property.

A number of bloggers and YouTube types are staying to record their "Journey". Despite all the warnings, this remains Florida.

Best wishes, Turk. Can't imagine the stress that comes with this. At least you're safe up north.

This will start out as a partial self-own, because I'm admitting I look at Nextdoor, but hear me out! Occasionally there is useful information, and sometimes I need a good laugh. Imagine my surprise when I saw the following:
This was posted by Meredith Bruckner. You thought man on the street interviews were awful? Wait until you see person on Nextdoor comments!Hello neighbors, I am the Washtenaw County reporter with CBS Detroit. I’m working on a story about local ties to Hurricane Milton. Is anyone here directly impacted? Or is anyone organizing relief efforts from this area? Thank you!

Hey man, they just updated the prediction and Venice is now ground zero. If you have any sway with your friends, you might explain how dire this is... Otherwise you might say goodbye or plan on looking for them on a roof on the Thursday night news.lidoshuffle wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 6:26 pm I have friends in Venice and Englewood, pretty much both locations have a big red bullseye for Milton, my Venice friends are riding it out, Englewood friends have headed into Georgia with relatives,
Good luck to anyone who is down there and riding this out...

Lots of Tornados popping up now now.

The wind shear should speed the travel up, which is great for lowering damage. Things get bad when a system like this stalls.
