Does anyone have any history for Keener 14 from Battle Creek from back in the day? There is an internet radio station Keener 16 from Marshall that is available on www.radio.net this station also is known as AM 1630, is this internet station run by someone who worked at the old Keener 14? Any info would be helpful.

They were a sister station to WKNR/Keener 13 in Detroit. Knorr Broadcasting turned block-programmed 1400 WELL into WKFR Keener 14 in November 1964 and it was a hee-yooge success with Top 40. One of Keener 14's earliest jocks - the late Jim Jeffries - later made the move to Keener 13, where he did all nights. Tom Dean, later of The Big D/WDEE, worked at WELL in the pre-Keener era.
WKFR took on the WKNR calls in 1972, after the Detroit station became WNIC. They stayed Top 40 until moving to an AC format sometime in the early '80s, IIRC. The FM station (originally 96.5, later 103.3) kept the WKFR calls and remains a giant to this day with CHR.

First off, I want to say Thanks Chris for the info. I’m just wondering how there are 3 different internet stations calling themselves Keener, 2 of which are Keener 13. The first one is at www.keener13.com which also has an app available and is also on live365.com The next is www.wknrfm.com also available on some 3rd party radio apps as well. This third Keener is Keener 16 from Marshall, Michigan and is claiming they are AM 1630 the streaming is available on the www.radio.net website and app. I was wondering if any of these versions of Keener Radio have a connection to someone that was involved with the two stations WKNR and/or WKFR. Again, I Thank You for the info.
