Sunrise Semester

Post by sfpcc » Wed Sep 30, 2020 10:26 pm

Does anyone out there remember Sunrise Semester, (or shows like it.) Basically a college course was aired around 6:30 in the morning and viewers could get academic credit. It's was the forerunner of College Online. CBS aired a show called Sunrise Semester from 1957 to 1982, but a few other shows like it were also around. I remember when I was a freshman in high school in 1983 I had to do a report on a speech. I got up at 6:30 and watched a program like that and did my report.

I remember Sunrise Semester well. Even without the academic credit it was still worth getting up early for.

Canada's CTV had "University of the Air."

In the 1978 move The Fury, Kirk Douglas ties up a married couple in their apartment, and leaves them under the care of an older lady who doesn't like the way she's been treated by this married couple.

Peter Sandza (Douglas): Mother Nuckells, I'd appreciate it if you didn't untie 'em until after "M*A*S*H" is over.

Mother Nuckells: "M*A*SH"? I won't untie 'em until after "Sunrise Semester"!
