NBC's "Hot Dog" 1970

Post by matt1 » Sat Mar 09, 2019 4:39 am

On Saturday afternoon at 12 Noon, NBC did a show called "Hot Dog" which aired from September 1970 till September 1971. The hosts were Woody Allen, Jo Anne Worley & the late Jonathan Winters. Dick Smothers did the original pilot but was fired. Here is an episode which is remastered but does not have the NBC opening of the peacock or the NBC snake logo at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNGWCCl6-qo

NBC Nightly News is hosted by a hot dog, His name is Lester Holt. And NBC’s Meet The Press is also hosted by another hot dog, His name is Chuck Todd. And that’s today’s lesson kids, Tune in tomorrow for more educational programming on this same station.

There was a topic about how to send mail at the post office BUT YouTube does not have that segment. Saw that when WNEM 5 (Saginaw, MI) showed the reruns of "Hot Dog" around 1977 - 1978 at 7:00 Saturday morning, followed by "Looney Tunes" with Bugs Bunny & Friends because "Hot Dog" was 21 minutes long.

I recall catching Hot Dog on WNEM at one point during 1977-1978, though the episode I saw featured making crayons and T-shirts. I believe repeats of Hot Dog were syndicated during that season, to cash in on Woody Allen's rising fame as a Hollywood star and filmaker.

I remember this show. Didn't realize it lasted only one season.

Shortwave is the ORIGINAL satellite radio.

We would get Hot Dog on film and we would watch it in class in probably 1973 or so.
