Lancelot Link Secret Chimp

Post by Deleted User 14803 » Sun Dec 30, 2018 7:49 pm

My wife brought this up the other day, apparently in the 70’s there was a children’s show called “Lancelot Link Secret Chimp” it aired on Saturday Mornings, Now I don’t remember this program but my wife is 15 years younger than me so she was just a child when this was on TV and apparently she remembered this, so I went on You Tube and there it was, this stuff was hilarious now I guess it was on for just one season, so do any of you remember watching this on Saturday Mornings.

Here is their only 45 single which did NOT chart in Billboard Hot 100 or "Bubbling Under" Charts "Sha-La Love You": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQGBwYlVKJE

That might be one of the first TV shows I remember watching, (among Kimba, Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street and the 50 afternoon lineup in 1973.)

Can anyone else out there recall the first TV show they remember watching?

There's just nothing a whole lot more fun than monkey's in people clothes...

The first TV show I really remember watching was Sea Hunt with Lloyd Bridges.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

The ending closing credits of that show at the beginning of the song reminds me of Grand Funk Railroad "Footstompin' Music" (March of 1972): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDGAENmjt6o

Did NOT watched that show for the first time until Nickelodeon showed the reruns either in the late 80's or early 90's. Saw that for the first time back then!!

Loved that show! It was like Clutch Cargo with monkeys because the words never fit the mouths moving. It was one of those shows where people of every age could get something out of it. The head of Lance's "organization" was a guy named Darwin. And whenever Lance was on a case, he would ask him, "What's your theory, Darwin?". Great stuff.

Bernie Kopell, who is still among us at the age of 85, voiced a number of characters on that show, including Lancelot's nemesis, Baron Von Butcher. Lancelot's voice sounded like Walter Matthau to me, but apparently Dayton Allen was going for Humphrey Bogart. Always enjoyed when the chimps would get adrenal during a shot, whirling their wrists around, roaring off set, etc.

The first show I remember was "Lockup," starring McDonald Carey .
