Scanner Question

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

Scanner Question

Post by Turkeytop » Fri Jan 14, 2022 12:05 am

I have a Uniden BC 125 AT handheld scanner. It's all locked up. Any key I press, the display says the keyboard is locked. How can I unlock it?

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Looks like I might have to do a hard reset. I'll lose everything I've entered in the last two years.

Can't do a hard reset. That involves pressing three keys simultaneously. Of course, with the keypad locked, it can't respond to that.

Monday I'll try calling Uniden to see if they offer any kind of tech support.

I just took a look at the specs for your handheld scanner, If it doesn't do DIGI modes or 800-900 MHz, you already need a new scanner
Maybe OK if you listen to aircraft, GMRS, FRS and marine radio a lot ...

So I took the scanner down to the beach, thinking I might catch dome traffic on the marine band.

Nothing.

Still I enjoyed the bike ride.

Speaking of Marine ...Years ago I viasited Hawaii and went on a boat ride, They had a VHF Marine radio and a 27 MHz AM CB radio . I asked if they used the marine radio to talk to the company dock operator (there are channels assigned for company comms) The captain was shocked ! He said only use CB for company comms and marine was ONLY for emergency to coastguard if they were sinking.
Maybe it's the same here now.
