Radio DX from my work's private plane

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

Radio DX from my work's private plane

Over SE Kentucky near the Tennessee line I picked up 104.7 WTUE from Dayton on my radio app on my phone.

Also had 92.5 WBKR from Owesboro/Evansville clashing with 92.5 The Fox from Cincinnati.

Over Knoxville I easily picked up Nashville stations 95.5, 96.3 and 97.9.

Once, on a flight from Detroit to Las Vegas, I wasn't even sure where I was. It was about two hours into the flight. I got FM from Minneapolis.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

WOMC is an easy pick over Tennessee Kentucky and Ohio.

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

I DX on airplanes all the time - lots of fun, especially if you have inflight wifi and can lookup IDs while listening :)

I find that once you get to cruise altitude (above 32K) you have a minimum of about 200 miles worth of range (and up to about 600). You can fly directly over a 50kw station and not even hear it, but hear something co-channel 200 miles out.
