FM E-skip opening 6-21

Post by TomSanders » Fri Jun 21, 2019 6:56 pm

In Lakeport, the opening began just after noon and ended just before 2 PM. Stations heard:

92.1 WZEW Fairhope AL, classic rock "92-Zoo"
92.9 WZGC Atlanta, sports talk
92.9 UNID "My Big FM"
93.7 WPGZ Macon GA "Z-93.7"
93.7 WAAO Andalusia AL, Christian
94.7 UNID oldies, maybe WTBF Troy AL
95.3 KQKI Bayou Vista LA "south central Louisiana's news leader"

Heard with Marantz PMD 800 tuner in narrow mode, 3 element outdoor antenna on 2nd floor,
Blonder-Tongue Masterline signal booster.

Did anyone else hear anything?

I got exactly one station:
92.3 WWKA Orlando, FL with a "K92.3" ID between Tennille Townes and Kenny Chesney

At first, I thought it was either the 92.3 from Clintonville, WI or the 92.3 from Marquette (both of which are also country) until I heard the K92 ID. There was no other sign of Es anywhere (there may have been some in the 88-92 range, but I generally don't pay much attention down there unless I notice something completely out of the blue, such as NPR on 88.3 or 88.5), but Green Bay and the central UP were in via tropo.
