No Backup streams for iHeart/Premiere XDS?

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

No Backup streams for iHeart/Premiere XDS?

Post by 80sTalkRadioFan » Tue Mar 12, 2019 11:27 pm

Noticed two Toledo area stations having satellite issues tonight, Tuesday March 12. In the past, these were short lived because the XDS satellite receiver would switch over to an internet stream after about 30 seconds of silence when the receiver lost it's lock on the carrier. Tonight, WCWA 1230 Fox Sports had been silent since at least 11:00. It's back on, as of around 11:30. Earlier tonight at 7:00 WIMX Toledo's "Mix 95.7" was silent for what was supposed to be the beginning of the "Sweat Hotel" from iHeart/Premiere Networks. Eventually, either the automation system, or someone at the station started playing their own music at around 7:05. Mix 95.7 was playing the "DL Hughley show" from Westwood One's satellite carrier just before 7:00 with no problem but went silent during the switchover to iHeart/Premiere's carrier. Just curious if these backup streams were dropped as a cost cutting move during iHeart's bankruptcy.
