What time was it?
WGCR Pisgah Forest, NC is 50 kW-D 15 kW-CH nondirectional. It has a translator. The Daytime AM translators cause a lot of confusion to board operators who don't understand AM radio, as the programming continues after the AM is supposed to sign off. So a lot of them occasionally forget to shut the AM down. That's one possibility.
KDWN Las Vegas, NV. 50 kW DA-N. Possible before Sunset in Las Vegas. Also has an AM translator. Were they playing Mannheim Steamroller? That's a possibility on stations with Syndicated Talk Formats.
CHTN has moved to FM, and the AM has been shut down.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through May 6 at 7:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Re: Rare catch on 720 AM at night
One morning, a lot of years ago, I heard a station giving out traffic warnings during an ice storm in Oklahoma, wiped out 740 in Toronto totally. Seems like a station in Tulsa (maybe KRMG ?) was running the daytime power of 50 kW and daytime antenna during the emergency situation. .
