Re: Dow Jones Falls Below 30000

When hasn't the market knee-jerked when the Fed makes an announcement. My advice is to get out of the market as soon as possible or quit whining. Last I looked, I had lost high 5 figures since your boy has been in. It's probably six figures now. My prudently-diversified stock/bond portfolio is stil...

Re: Dow Jones Falls Below 30000

So, will it ever recover in our lifetime without serious political change, and replacing politicians who don't care about middle America? 1. The US stock market has bounced back from downturns every single time , and has done so without regard to who happens to be in political office. 2. If you're ...

Re: 2021 Ford Broncos are rolling shitboxes

The old acronym jokes ... Ford= found on road dead Fiat= fix it again Tony. Those are the only two I know. I once had an oil-burning Escort and told people that Ford stood for "Fill Oil Reservoir Daily". Other ones I've heard: Plymouth: Please let your mechanic open up the hood. Pontiac: Poor old n...

Re: Gaylord tornado

I think it is no longer necessary for broadcast to provide emergency live coverage like this given the power of a cellphone. I have full color radar on my phone and although meteorologists have more accurate long term forecasting, most people don't need it. I disagree. Cell phone alerts are not alw...

Re: Beyond or Impossible burgers?

Haven't tried the Beyond Burger yet, but I've downed my share of Impossible burgers and have to say that I really like them. The taste, texture, and not-very-juicy nature of the Impossible patties are, to me, more like venison than ground beef. When ordering an Impossible Whopper at Burger King, I a...

There's a banner on 9and10news.com stating that a new antenna has been ordered and will arrive mid-June.

Is this situation now affecting Fox 32? Am unable to pick up either 9 or 32 here in Manistee today.

Re: Enough lies from the Guru Guy

As a Registered Republican, it pains me to see any mention of 45 on the television; however what Perry Johnson is doing; with his bold face lies and Trump Propaganda; is making me violently ill.... :barf :barf . At what point do the local TV stations stop taking the money for his campaigns advertis...

Re: BBC once again broadcasting on Shortwave to Europe for first time in 14 years

Here in the Tampa Bay area, our local NPR radio station, WUSF has just started broadcasting a feed from BBC World Service, every night from midnight to 5:00 AM. This replaces an all night jazz program that has been there since year dot. Here in northern Michigan, NPR News stations WICA/WLMN broadca...

Re: BBC once again broadcasting on Shortwave to Europe for first time in 14 years

too bad we trashed our VOA facilities in Bethany, Dixon and Delano (possibly Greenville?) Now that Putin has quashed all independent news outlets in Russia, International short wave broadcasts have never been more needed. I imagine that Putin will eventually have the Soviet-era jammers back in oper...

Re: TREASURE TROVE OF OLD MICHIGAN COVERAGE MAPS

Great stuff!

The coverage map for WTIQ Manistique was just a bit optimistic.

Awesome to see CKCY included in the Ontario collection. There's no mention of CJWA, so the map must be from before 1976.

Re: WJMN dumping CBS?

Around Rapid River, W40AN's predecessor, W72AJ, had better coverage. 72 came in crystal-clear on Whitefish Hill and was viewable as far east along US-2 as St. Jacques. This, despite W40AN putting out ~22,000 watts versus 100 for W72AJ. Both translators got progressively weaker as the years passed, a...

Re: WJMN dumping CBS?

Yup, W40AN was a translator for Green Bay's channel 11, WLUK (FOX). It didn't get out far, at least if we're speaking northbound. I am unaware of any translators in the region using channel 55 in the analog age. Full power stations in both Milwaukee and Wausau used channel 55. Tropo allowing a Milw...

Re: WJMN dumping CBS?

I think it can be said for many TV operators in the digital age in the U.P. that a medium powered main transmitter - preferably on VHF - coupled with digital translators in major population centers would be the most effective way to maximize OTA reach. Indeed, most U.P. viewers were accustomed to p...
