Re: RIP Major League Baseball (new stupid rules for next year)

I think they've openly said it is a move to shorten the game. And it is an artificial one at that, compared to other sports where there are clocks. Shot/play clocks make sense in timed games as it keeps the offense from just getting a lead and then running out the clock. But baseball is different in...

I have since edited the clickbait nature of my thread title.

It is certainly RIP to baseball as we know it.

Re: RIP Major League Baseball

Here's an idea of what the clock might look like visually when watching games on tv. WHAT AN UNNECESSARY, OBNOXIOUS DISTRACTION! It will now be the focal point of the game because of how it sticks out like a sore thumb. http://breakingnewsfeeds.com/media/clock.jpg (minor league game where its alread...

RIP Major League Baseball (new stupid rules for next year)

The Competition Committee has just voted to ruin the sport (all 4 players on the committee voted against these changes, but they were outnumbered by ownership representatives). Starting next year, the following rule changes will be in place: -Pitch clock. 15 seconds if the bases are empty and 20 sec...

Democrats want every vote to count.

The GOP wants every valid vote to count.

Re: Most Democrat leaders support abortion until birth

I'm talking specifically about public opinion. Today, the vast, vast majority of people in society view black people as human beings. That wasn't the case in the 1820s. Today, the underlying theme of a pro-choice stance is "my body, my choice." But the very crux of that stance requires either preten...

Re: Nevada Democrat (allegedly) murders reporter

The problem is that such votes are political theatre designed to ensnare the Democrats. If they vote no they are labeled ok with killing perfectly healthy babies. If they vote yes then the question is “if you aren’t ok with that kind of abortion why don’t you support banning more?”. A vote on a pro...

Re: Does the "Reproductive Freedom" amendment give rights to men?

km - You make a compelling argument. And if this is approved by voters, it is going to create some real legal headaches, though maybe not how you think it will. Here's how I see this playing out: As a preliminary matter, Constitutional rights only place restrictions on government officials, not on i...

Re: Most Democrat leaders support abortion until birth

In the late 1820's just about every Democrat thought people should be able to own slaves. What's your point? An analogy would be "Property rights" are to the 1820s as "Healthcare rights" are to the 2020s. As I've noted before in here, I have high hopes that at some point in the future, people will ...

Re: Nevada Democrat (allegedly) murders reporter

So you literally think most Democrats are ok with dismembering a full term baby? How many people walking around have you met that would say “give me one of those” to that proposal? He said most Democrats "in office." So we're talking about politicians here. Which is my point. Politicians are out-of...

Re: Most Democrat leaders support abortion until birth

TCT - Your conclusion as to the data presented by Pew Research doesn't address my contention. And you're combining "all" and "most." Even in the pro-choice crowd, a majority (36/61, or 59%) does believe in some restrictions. If you dig through the data linked to that Pew Research article, you'll fin...

Most Democrat leaders support abortion until birth

This deserves its own thread. I am challenging RT's assertion that the Democrat party does not believe in the abortion of a viable fetus. Specifically, he said "No it doesn’t believe in that. If by viable you mean can survive outside the mother then no they do not. Most certainly not up to birth for...

Re: Nevada Democrat (allegedly) murders reporter

No it doesn’t believe in that. If by viable you mean can survive outside the mother then no they do not. Most certainly not up to birth for god sakes. Ask any Democrat party leader if they support any restrictions whatsoever on abortion, right up until birth. Most won't give you an answer. That sho...
