Re: Realistic DX 160
The radio we all lusted over like a hot 21 year old, and never had enough money to afford either. I have a speaker for one, incase I ever find one for sale at a hamfest below the original retail price. I see these on Ebay quite often. Nearly all of them will need new capacitors if they haven't been...

I truly miss live, local radio directed at their City of License, instead of this "Where ever you go, we're there, sucking as usual" garbage.

thats two, Nelson. Anything and I mean anything thats not premium choice/cumulus/iheart is just fine by me. I like being surprised by what is next, and frankly, i KNOW most of the tunes on WQON. Maybe i need meds, but thats my problem. I have to agree. I just listened to an hour long shortwave pira...

I have always viewed the market environment up north to be just plain nuts. But this is how corporate anything works, by gobbling up all the locals to make one giant, tasteless pancake. Sad to see all of these formerly decent stations tossed around again. It never seems to stop up there. The whole "...

I remember actually seeing that RCA at WKNX working back in the Day. It was trashed to make room for the MW10 in around 1979-80.
Edit: Honestly, I thought the RCA sounded better than the Harris.

Re: Anybody Have Any Experience With Fixing d'Arsonval Signal/Battery Strength Meters/Circuits?
Indeed, what SolarMax said. Plastic meter faces are notorious for that. I have a Simpson 260 with the plastic lense bezel which says right in it do not wipe this lense... I always took a small chunk of foil and grounded it with a test jumper and them lightly pressed it flat to the lense. Most of the...

Between radio and working at the Jeep plant for ten years, the ringing is pretty extreme at times. Left ear is really bad, and follows my heartbeat like a heart monitor.

LOL... I can still hear 10k, but the tininitus is a real bitch. I just proofed out an Optimod 8000 I had sleeping on the shelf here and I could hear to around 11.5k or so when sweeping tones thru it. Granted, the "test" jacks are *after* the preemphasis, so...

One of the guitarists either used bass strings or all high E strings to get that really heavy, deep sound.

One thing I don't understand is why "ministries" continue to broadcast years after the guy croaks. Gene Scott, for one. Or years after these ministers failed outright, Harold Camping. I know Camping is pretty much gone from the airwaves since the dissolution of Family Radio, but I heard a Gene Scott...

At some point, this Orban was evidently moved to the AM... as I think back, the phase was probably reversed to the TX. Honestly, I think I'd rather have analog STL over digital. That's just me. I do not trust digital, or especially the internet infrastructure, to be hardened enough if the Sun decide...
