They sure are paying a lot of people to do relatively little work, if indeed no newscasts will be added until February. A lot of WIAA's coverage area overlaps with WBLV and WCMU-FM, both of which primarily play classical music.

I've had the opportunity to hear a few FM stations broadcast in both mono and in stereo (at different times, obviously) and have noticed very little difference in areal coverage in the car.

Examples include 96.1 WMAX-FM, 107.3 WBBL-FM / WNTR, and 106.9 WOOD-FM.
