Re: Now that Midwest is fixing up its K'zoo cluster...
Is it me or is 92.9 sounding rather less contemporary in its music lately? They used to be very current-intensive, almost to the "Hot Hits" extreme. Now I'm hearing a lot of recurrents and gold stretching back a decade or so. They actually sound less contemporary than 97.5 now. And, no surprise, Fue...

Re: Questionable music choices at 106.7 Fake Wheels
I'm pretty sure I heard "The Middle" on WIOT recently as well. Maybe it's on the Premium Choice playlist? Seems like a very odd choice for a Mainstream Rock or Classic Rock station - way too pop. When I heard it on WIOT, I had to double check to make sure I wasn't listening to WDVD or CIDR.

97.7 WTGV is also an option for Lapeer County listeners. When their automation doesn't screw up, that is.

Re: Traverse City area (April 8, 1977)
Great find. I guess cable was the only (or at least the best) way to watch PBS programming in much of the area in the days before CMU signed on Manistee, Cadillac, and the TC and Leland translators. Unless WPNE was viewable from across the lake.

Re: Most versatile radio pop/rock song
Certain Adele songs - particularly "Rolling in the Deep" and "Hello" - have been played across the format spectrum from Adult Alternative to Urban AC... just about everywhere except country and harder rock formats. "Hello" is even played on Westwood One's adult standard format. Back in 1984, Lionel ...

Re: FM Stations That Used To Be Listenable In SE MI, But Now Difficult Or Impossible
For me its WIOT Toledo,FM96 London,WMMS Clev.,Q106 Jackson, various formats on 107.9 & 107.3 Clev. The FCC ruined the band in various ways and wonders why FM radio is dying a slow death............ I'd add BX93, 93.5 CBCL and 103.9 from Woodstock to that list as well. I used to get all three regular...

Good reception in Whitmore Lake as well, enough to completely block out WDZZ and W224CC both.

Soft AC fans (as well as those missing the old CFCO Classic Gold format or the old Easy 101 Tillsonburg) may also enjoy these BC stations. I certainly am.

Re: 97.1 WGLQ - when did they segue to Hot AC?
I think that same urban music show is also heard on 107-9 WCDY in Cadillac. GLQ has had adult overtones to its programming for a long time. As late as 1999, if memory serves, GLQ was airing a '50s-'70s oldies show on Saturday nights - I want to say it was either Mike Harvey's "SuperGold" or Dick Bar...

Re: 96.3 wkla format tweak
Interesting. Quite a few recent stiffs on that playlist (i.e. "Filthy"). I take it this means they dropped the Westwood One format? Westwood One's take on CHR or Adult CHR or Hot AC or whatever they call it is seriously the driest, most boring format I've ever heard in my life. 104.9 WQBX Alma and ...

Re: WIOG is #1 in Saginaw-Bay City; WGER barely defeats Houghton Lake station
So, if it’s only 250 watts, it sounds like Gladwin’s 103.1 WGDN and their classic country format would still come in better in Bay City and Saginaw.... Indeed it does. I was just in Bay City today, helping a friend with a garage sale. 103.1 WGDN was solid with no fading. 107.7, not so much. 96.5 fr...

Re: Songs on the radio that you never get tired of
Someone mentioned Hall & Oates... three songs of theirs that I will never get tired of are "Out of Touch," "One on One," and "Say It Isn't So." Maybe because those haven't been run into the ground as much as, say, "Kiss on My List."

Re: May I suggest one more format change on the FM dial? (Hint: it involves an urban station)
How does the Classix format compare to Soul 101.5 in Cincy, or what Urban One was doing before with Soul 99.9 in Detroit? I have to agree, if there's any other city on earth besides Philly that could make a station like this work, it's Detroit, especially with the Urban ACs playing less and less cla...
