Re: CKWW (?) 580 AM
CKWW is literally a hidden gem. Wish it came in better in Ypsi; might just be my radio, but I can't pick it up worth a damn here. I could stream it, but something about hearing this music on AM... a nostalgia for an era I wasn't even alive for. But still, I enjoy it... CKWW was purpose-built ...

1470 WOHO. The station you grew up with has grown up with you. And died!Deleted User 15502 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 4:37 am1470am, this ones never going to die on here lol. 730am sounds really good, sound wise here in Wood Co Ohio. Now the programing is another story.

Re: CKWW (?) 580 AM
It's still in the Region II Database. So is the 540 frequency, and they might be able to do more with that, if the Canadian regulators let them. That was 2500 watts Daytime, 5000 watts Nighttime, with a parallelogram pattern near the Detroit River. CHYR was authorized 10000 Daytime and 1000 Nightti...

Re: CKWW (?) 580 AM
It's too bad that they dismantled CHYR/CHYR7 years ago, they had a great signal in Metro Detroit.
I'd like to hear that station reborn. The channel still belongs to Canada.
As the Beach Boys would have said, Wouldn't it be nice?

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?
Hope it happens. They could have 6P and 11P newscasts with something the other stations don't offer....News. The first ten minutes of the newscast would likely be in the same verve of 2, 4, and 7, but, after the first station break, they could go to more news, less stories on what is vaguely termed ...

Re: CKWW (?) 580 AM
Among many reasons I like to listen to CKWW is that it is an AM station and many of the recordings were meant to be heard on AM. I enjoy the references to the Top 40 era CKLW and their song selections played can be surprising for an "oldies" format as one can hear relative rarities like Bobby James...

Re: Experimental Shortwave Radio Station W8XN In Detroit
Does anyone have any information about Experimental Shortwave Radio Station W8XN in Detroit, which had seemingly come about in the 1930's? My 1922 Consolidated Radio Call Book shows callsign 8XN being held at that time (1922) by the Carnegie Institute of Technology Radio Club, Pittsburgh, PA. Curio...

Re: CKWW (?) 580 AM
This is about the only station I listen to anymore. Basically the same music CKLW played in the 60s. Better than any junk played nowadays. Does anyone even know about this station? Yes. It's my first preset on the car radio, followed by WNZK (for its Motown-and-a-cup-of-Joe show). I keep a button f...

Re: 1450 WHLS missing from the AM dial lately
WLQV (formerly WJBK, among others) has an amazing signal strength for a station near the top of the band. The daytime directional array beams right at St. Clair County, with a booming signal in Memphis (MI). The nine-tower array produces a greater ERP than the 50kW transmitter would produce with an ...

Could your TV be set in the "SAP" position? If it was, you can listen in English by turning the SAP mode off.lidoshuffle wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 7:47 pmABC is broadcasting the play by play of the Clemson/Georgia game in Spanish...?? Is this some technical snafu?

Re: 1450 WHLS missing from the AM dial lately
I grew up North of Detroit, but have lived south of it the last few years. Last weekend, I traveled way up north (Stony Creek Metropark) to see my great nephew (on his first birthday) for the first time last weekend. After the party broke up, I decided to see some of the places I would go to years a...

Re: Toledo Station For Sale
Which explains why it was fairly easy for WPAY/WVOI/WTTO 1520 to slap 5 new towers in a row when they went from their dual site 1-Michigan/6-Ohio towers to their current setup? Just gotta protect Buffalo while 730 has to protect non-existent Canadian AM stations of yore (CHYR) plus Toronto? The Mic...

Re: Toledo Station For Sale
Looks pretty close to Toronto to me. It is actually about 50km west-southwest of Toronto. The tower is easily seen from one of the major freeways.
Since they are low on the band, Toronto still gets a good signal.
Note that this is actually a 100kW stick, as it is diplexed with SRC station CJBC.
