Re: CKWW 580 Signal Observations
Is WJR running the power saving type transmitter now too? Might explain weird S-meter readings in addition to about 5KHz filtering and whatever crap they use for ratings transmission. CFCO never disappoints, and they did have a null at one time to the SW clipping Toledo a bit. WWJ is hammered with ...

Re: History of WLW
GREAT EVALUATION OF POSSIBLE DESIGNS. Sometimes the cost of many towers colors the final designs. Like the WXYZ AM antenna in Southfield.using two towers to do what three usually did.

It would be interesting to research where the VOA is transmitting from recently.

This time, take more wire and try the so-called "tropical bands'; 49, 60, 75 and 120Meters. Stations there are lower power and regional. Less lightning noise for locals listening there than Medium Wave AM.

Re: FM reception in the southeast part of the US
Listening to AM DX off the coast is more likely easier due to the lack of ground based, unintentional radiation interference from appliances and power infrastructure. I don't think MW signals get any tropo enhancement like VHF and UHF.

Re: WLLZ Applies To Move To Diplex With WDET
The WXYZ-FM transmitter was on the Maccabees Building, which is near the North End of the Cass Corridor Area, on Woodward, one block from Cass Ave., though generally associated with WSU. It's not the scary area further South. Maybe that's the confusion. They moved to the Broadcast House site on the...

Re: WLLZ Applies To Move To Diplex With WDET
With old callsigns jumping to new freqs etc, it gets very confusing. I also associated the old WLLZ (98.7) coming in after WBFG (98.7) at Lyndon and Cloverdale, Formerly Ch 2 TV tower. I see the big stand-alone tower sitting off Woodward, between Cass and Canfield is going to be the diplex site ? No...

Good for a rural area. I imagine if you turn it 5 degrees off a readable signal , it will be GONE !

Re: August 16-22 Tropo Summary
How did the Toledo FM station get the same (long held) call sign as the Cinci AM with 50 kW ? I have seen only a fewinstances of this duplication in the US, very unusual.

Re: CKWW 580 Signal Observations
Just curious , so I selected my 250 ft long dipole and listened with my Icom 7300 radio. Here is my report from Commerce Township (halfway between Pontiac and Milford) ;. 560, S7 and recovered mod just above noise level 570, S5 Fair mod recovered. 580, S3 no mod recoverable (tried narrowing filter a...

Still see no CP or anything about a downgrade at WMVP, on the FCC AM Querry page. Or the Radiolocater listing

Re: WMVP Downgrade
Ju I know there is a AMBC transmitter site with (maybe) 6 towers for WYLL 1160 near Joliet, They still can be heard well in the Detroit area at night, even with one small lobe in night pattern our way. Now that WCXI 1160, 15 kW has moved into my neighborhood , WYLL is no longer heard here.
