Re: Retro TV WHNE
What a F'ed up business model.....its like I own a restaurant but my customers have to bring their own plates and utensils to be able to eat there. :lol No, restaurants provide food, which is tangible. WHNE provides a TV signal, which is intangible. By your logic, TV of any kind is a bad business m...

Re: Channel-Sharing, Canadian Style
Some large, English speaking cities without many English channels OTA include: St. Johns, NL London, ON Halifax, NS Saskatoon, SK Edmonton, AB I feel sorry for these cities being gimped out like that. Well most of them surely do better than Alpena MI, which only has 6 channels. I said most , St. Jo...

Re: Channel-Sharing, Canadian Style
Alas, Canadian cord cutters have it rough if they don't live near the border. (Sorry, Newfoundland!) Or even in a large city -- since the digital conversion in 2011, many areas of Canada were left with no aerial television. In the case of Newfoundland, only St. John's has two -- CBC and NTV. St. Jo...

Re: Channel-Sharing, Canadian Style
Come on, CRTC, let broadcasters have some fun! Y'all are what is keeping Canada from enjoying true free speech. Another thing about Canadian monopolies, monopolies in cable aren't just encouraged, but mostly are required. If a cable channel is a category A service, no other companies can start a cab...

Re: Channel-Sharing, Canadian Style
I wish the CRTC would treat subchannels as if they were part of the primary station. I would really like to see some Canadian diginets! Maybe CBC could have a Canadian reruns diginet (akin to Me TV, but Canadian). And maybe we could enjoy some SCTV (take off hoser!) Alas, Canadian cord cutters have ...

Re: WFHD-LP
RF6 is WDMY, if they ever get on the air. Interestingly, it's also a digital LPTV/TX allotment in Windsor. It was granted to South West Ontario B/Casting (actual name!) in 2018 by the FCC, but the CRTC doesn't even have any record of such application! RF4 is frequently used for analog STAs by Live S...

They filed an STA extension. Apparently the application is still pending due to coordination with Canada

WEYI is also on 18, so that would really screw them up

Re: WFHD-LP
They filed two apps:
One to transmit on UHF 30 from Ann Arbor (pending as of 3/4/20)
One to transmit on UHF 18 from SW Detroit (being reviewed as of 3/10/20)
Their application narrative says they intend to broadcast live, local, quality programming for Ann Arbor and the surrounding communities.

Re: Please, enough with the whining
I have re-scanned several of my TVs and all are missing 14. I used to get it before the re-pack. I'm East of A2 and use the same antenna as before. One thing with the recent repack is not I get 6,48,52 out of Lansing. The 35 dBu contour goes out to Chelsea. It is possible to receive it at the edge ...

Re: Please, enough with the whining
SolarMax, I totally agree. WHNE is the only LPTV in the area with an identity. It's because they aren't owned by a large corporation. It's like McDonalds vs. the charming locally owned restaurant across the street.

Please, enough with the whining
DISCLAIMER: Most whining that I'm referring to exists on WHNE's Facebook. Not the buzzboard, you guys are good :D A lot of people are whining about the "crappy" signal being put out by WHNE. The signal isn't crappy, your antennas are obviously crappy at getting low VHF. Once the pandemic stops, get ...

Re: Retro TV WHNE
Maybe something could happen with WWJ TV. CBS's ratings never recovered after the 94 realignment, and if WHNE let WWJ air a HD simulcast of 62.1 on one of 3's subchannels (transmitted from 62's transmitter, for coverage and bandwidth purposes, while still being licensed as a WHNE subchannel), WHNE c...
