500 Top-of-Hour IDs from Fremont
Cross-posted from Grand Rapids category too, but figure many don't always browse a single region when they live elsewhere. Here is my 500 Top-of-Hour IDs project as recorded from Fremont. It's a 6-hour audio documentary including legal IDs of 500 stations that are regularly heard here, plus 30 addi...

Re: 500 Top-of-Hour IDs from Fremont
Impressive! Thanks :razz It sure has been hard to promote this project. I think a year from now, after I've totally given up promoting it, I'll check my web stats and there will be tons of hits. It happened five years after one of my other projects and still no idea where they are coming from every...

500 Top-of-Hour IDs from Fremont
Hi all. Here is my 500 Top-of-Hour IDs project as recorded from Fremont. It's a 6-hour audio documentary including legal IDs of 500 stations that are regularly heard here, plus 30 additional stations, bloopers, commentary, a 55-page guide, and Google Earth file including the tower sites and informat...

Re: 94.5 The Q - new format is Adult Album Alternative
So when exactly did the on-air switch occur?! I browsed through the posts here but can't seem to figure out the answer as the original post mentions the change via streaming, but then I didn't see any post until a few posts ago that mentions they were listening to the radio and heard the songs. I ha...

Re: 97.3 Grand Rapids shut down
So, is 97.3 Grand Rapids still on the air, or did it go silent again? As of being in town early Saturday morning, it was on the air as usual. I can't hear it from up here in Fremont anymore due to WDEE certainly being on the air, but I have no reason to believe they've managed to go off the air aga...

Chippewa Falls Bandscan
Here's a bandscan at Chippewa Falls with a few additional notes from up the road at Batchawana Bay. Chippewa Falls isn't far north of Sault Ste. Marie, but still gets in on the cross-lake conditions to Wausau due to the orientation of the coastline. CHIPPEWA FALLS / BATCHAWANA BAY, ONTARIO BANDSCAN ...

Re: 97.3 Grand Rapids shut down
WDEE was off for 12 days?! I seriously didn't notice that for 9 of those days? Wow, and I call myself a DXer. Of course, I did clean up the dial in the last three days of them being off the air and I don't usually pay great attention to strong local frequencies, knowing nothing will come from them. ...

Re: 97.3 Grand Rapids shut down
The added mention of "Would you believe the plaintiff even sued me (unsuccessfully) for all of my assets including equipment I paid for to run the station?" to the edited Facebook posts seems to shine some (still-dim) light on the situation.

Re: 97.3 Grand Rapids shut down
The fact 94.9 and 97.3 dumped African American-centric formats just weeks apart strikes me as odd. My guess is 97.3 was bleeding cash and has inside info that Cumulus is about to flip one of its local 50,000 watt stations to Urban. I wouldn't say that 97.3 dumped their format. They were proudly Afr...

97.3 Grand Rapids shut down
After a lengthy court battle over... stuff... WJWC-LP has seemingly been forced off the air this morning, according to a post I accidentally ran into five minutes before they shut down. With WDEE off the air since Friday here, I've been listening to the Grand Rapids LP here in Fremont for these past...

WDEE off the air this weekend
97.3 KHKI Des Moines, 105kw (417 mi.) with fading legal ID here in Fremont on still-off-the-air 27-mi. local frequency. Fade-ups of the usual KGRR (254 mi.), WHDG (208 mi.), and WRNW (103 mi.) as well as solid signals from WMEE (167 mi.) and WMJO (109 mi.), and a weak but steady WJWC-LP (49w at 35 m...

WDEE off the air this weekend
My 27-mile local 97.3 WDEE has been off the air all weekend so far. Within the first few hours of noticing, I managed to easily hear, from Fremont: 97.3 WMEE Fort Wayne (167 mi.), which is a regular in 24/7 97.3 WJMO Essexville, Joe FM (109 mi.), also a regular, exceptional depending on where I stan...

Re: 99.3 WQAN Signal Strength
Can't say I'm surprised. I doubt they'd admit to running less than rated power. That'd be silly, considering one could just make the argument that that's what was given to them when they bought the stations. Any reasonable person could understand they'd need to be given some chance to upgrade. Of c...

Re: 99.3 WQAN Signal Strength
I actually sent an e-mail to Blarney Stone to try to determine what power all the old Henderson stations were running at, assuming if Blarney bought them, they had to have had their engineer at the transmitter sites and perhaps would be open to letting me know what the power was/is at those stations...

Brimley / Sault Ste. Marie Bandscans
Here are two scans from Brimley, ten miles outside Sault Ste. Marie. The first scan was performed during a typical nighttime radiation inversion, which is largely Northern Michigan stations. Weather was still dense fog over the lake, a strong low-pressure system dumping inches (even a foot-plus of r...
