Re: FM Band expansion

The expansion is starting. there are a few places where 87.7 and 87.9 are being used on a regular basis. legal, maybe not, but there. The FCC did officially add Channel 200 (87.9 KHz) to the band many years ago, but set conditions that make such assignments very unlikely. I believe that there may b...

Re: Are 50KW Clear Channel Stations in Jeopardy?

Most Class A AM stations are not concerned about their skywave coverage since they cannot count listeners outside their market. Most of them do not care about listeners outside their market, but a few might say they want the channels protected because their stations in other markets could find new c...

Re: WBKB Footage Unearthed... At Last!

It's interesting to see that the map behind her shows Bay County as being in their coverage area. I wonder if the shift of CBS affiliation from WEYI (25) to WNEM (5, and a transmitter site further north, closer to Alpena) hurt WBKB. Note that WBKB has a short tower and DA nulling the West. Was that ...

Nielson ratings for all published HD2 substations never get more than or 0.2 or 0.3 share.

That should tell you how little they are used
And are those ratings for the HD.x alone or the sum of the HD.x and it's associated FM translators?

Re: WTVN 610

Where exactly *is* the CKLW transmitter? Or CKWW? I remember driving into Windsor in the late 80's to early 90's, just outside the tunnel a ways I saw an large, odd array of five or six really, really short towers, probably like 75' or less. They were freshly painted red and white and appeared to b...

Re: Daylight Savings Time, Keep it or get rid of it...

I can remember when the Detroit big three used the mountain time network feeds in the summer, when the area was EST all year (the 1966 act allowed individual states to opt out of DST). One night, all three networks were interrupted by a disastrous flash flood in Rapid City, SD. My guess is that all ...

Re: Daylight Savings Time, Keep it or get rid of it...

Picking up where I left off...... If the time zones were to be strictly determined by math, the only Michiganders in the ETZ would be east of a line running from Jeddo Rd/Lakeshore Rd to Marine City (82¤30' W). Years ago, I drew a map, that would replace four time zones with three (Western, Heartlan...

Re: Daylight Savings Time, Keep it or get rid of it...

Hot and sunny here. I didn’t waste any time getting sunburned. I’m near Naples. It’s sunny, sunny, sunny, then SLAM dusk and darkness. Never noticed it like that at home. Too bad I’m not here next week after the time change. At the Equator, it's even faster. At higher latitudes (North or South) it'...

Re: Daylight Savings Time, Keep it or get rid of it...

Absolutely roll back both of the extensions that were sold cash-and-carry to the special interest groups. DST should start the last Sunday in April and end the day before Labor Day (creating a 73-hour weekend) Or just get rid if it. Of note is that Michigan is on Double DST. All of Michigan was in t...

Re: Day & Night at WDTW (AM)

Every morning at 6:00 AM, I was either asleep or busy.

This morning I was up and WDTW went from night to day pattern at 6:00, just as I predicted.

Thus their pattern changer is working correctly. But its clock is 45 minutes fast.

Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction) & Initial FM Collocation Analysis

Getting back to the proposed construction at the former J.L. Hudson site: I doubt Detroit's FMs would benefit from moving to Downtown Detroit. Such a move would put the signal further away from Oakland and Livingston counties, where the target listeners live (True, the signal along Woodward would st...

Parents in Saginaw are sure giving their kids original names.

Are HL101 and LL101 the son and grandson of R101, who tragically and suddenly died in an accident in France?

Re: 106.7 to flip shortly, RIP FAULT

https://1067wllz.iheart.com/ As expected, it’s Classic Rock. Adios, Alt 106.7. I tried to like the station, but the playlist was horribly tight and it didn’t sound local to Detroit at all. I do hope the WDTW call letters end up somewhere else soon. AM 1310, La Zeta. Yes, the name means "The Z", tho...
