Re: Ted Cruz's unreasonable policy positions

I like the concept of eliminating the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. It should've been eliminated 20 years ago. There are numerous agencies on Cruz's list that make sense to eliminate or downsize; however, others exist for a legitimate reason. The CPB should be funded exclusively by member sta...

Re: 2016 Presidential Polls

Do not count Rubio out. Just sayin'. I think he'll be the next guy to surge, and it could happen at just the right time. For the record, I personally have no issue with Audiophile's way of spelling "crap." It's like Krispy Kreme (although I'm not suggesting Krispy Kreme donuts taste like crap...quit...

Re: Ted Cruz's unreasonable policy positions

It shouldn't be the federal government or unelected judges imposing their own definition of marriage — we should instead respect our constitutional system. So, the Supreme Court shouldn't be adjudicating matters of constitutionality? The above comments wouldn't bother me that much if it weren't for...

Ted Cruz's unreasonable policy positions

I believe Ted Cruz as a Republican presidential nominee would guarantee a Hillary Clinton presidency. I think the electoral vote map might look even worse than it did in 2012 from a GOP standpoint. Below is a summary of policy positions that - in my opinion - make Cruz unelectable on a national scal...

Re: 2016 Presidential Polls

To compare Cruz to Reagan is just silly, in my opinion. Ronald Reagan was a very pragmatic politician & President who was willing to look for common ground on domestic policy issues. Cruz is the complete opposite of this. Reagan supported amnesty; Cruz opposes it. As a sidenote, Cruz's Obamacare hyp...

Re: A Serial Flip Flopper!

Indeed, Trump's positions on a number of issues have...let's say..."migrated" over the past 10 to 20 years. National Review and Glenn Beck's "Blaze" have done as a good of job documenting this as anyone. Carson stinks and would get torn to shreds in a one-on-one debate. Fiorina is an unaccomplished ...

Re: Trump/Carter

Trump's sanctions would apply to Muslims from anywhere in the world, including U.S. citizens.
Trump said the report that he's looking to bar U.S. citizens from re-entering the country is untrue.

Re: A good piece by Rush?

I completely disagree with the notion that Trump does *not* want the presidency (Limbaugh's monologue made no such suggestion, I might add). The man is campaigning relentlessly, takes every opportunity possible to appear on mainstream media news & current events shows, and is heavily active on socia...

Re: There have been 334 days and 351 mass shootings this yea

My position on this is pretty simple: Law abiding, mentally competent citizens should have the right to keep & bear arms and use them as a means of self-defense in dangerous situations. Mentally deficient or unstable individuals should NOT have that right, and laws need to be put into place that mak...

Re: 2016 Presidential Polls

I'm very surprised by the fact the GOP field remains as large as it is. I figured more candidates would have suspended their campaigns by now.

Re: There have been 334 days and 351 mass shootings this yea

I agree, audio, that BB guns, pellet guns and even muzzle loaders could be exempt from my conceptual proposal. Antique guns as well. I have no problem with states taking action in the absence of federal action. However, most of the actions I listed earlier need universal implementation to be truly e...

Re: Front page of 12/03's NY Daily News

I like Mort Zuckerman and generally believe he is a very smart man with good ideas. However, I do not like much of the message that front page is conveying. There is absolutely nothing wrong with praying for the victims. Furthermore, to pin all blame on libertarian or conservative leaning political ...

Re: There have been 334 days and 351 mass shootings this yea

The fact some people want to interpret a governance document written in the late 1700's in an airtight manner in the year 2015 strikes me as incredibly foolish. Most aspects of society, technology and culture are far different today. You need a license to drive a car anywhere you go in this country....

Re: Good column from Nolan Finley re: road funding

Same here! Spellcheck5000 - kudos to you for an excellent post. You summed up the situation beautifully. I believe that in addition to resolving funding on a recurring basis, a big one time slug of cash needs to be spent on the front end to make up for the many years' worth of maintenance deferrals ...
