Re: Black Diamond Sounding like corporate radio

I do believe the Black Diamond stations, at least the rockers, are consulted by Jacobs Media.

* Henderson and his team advising that although the programming ceased on 10/24/2019, the actual transmission did not, since electrical power remained intact. Electric bills are provided to document consumption of juice. And that 11/2/2020 was the resumption of programming, using the STA specificat...

Re: Really WSYM? This is News?

Tuning back in during the 8am hour, itsmy thought that one issue with this anchor-less format is that without a voice introducing the stories, you've got to watch the screen to know what the next story is. And that doesn't work in mornings when you're busy getting ready for work or school and are mo...

Really WSYM? This is News?

I really hope the newscasts scheduled for the rest of the day are better than what I'm seeing this morning. No anchor.....just a rolling playlist of pre-recorded mostly-stale and mostly national news stories. All the local stories were fluff-pieces.....new business opening, Lansing Arts Council stor...

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff

Wow! That's coming up quick. Interesting that they're moving their evening news back to 5:30. I assume that was a good timeslot for them before, but at the time, 6 and 10 didn't have newscasts at 5:30. Now they both do, so we'll see how Fox can do when competing with the other local stations. Prett...

Re: 1660 Kalamazoo "The Fan" flips to Urban Format

I'm not in that area to listen to these stations, but if I read this topic right. WQLR (1560) is off the air, but continues to operate it's FM translator. Is this correct? That is a big no no. The AM has to be "on the air" to operate the translator! They can be on with an STA at low power, but the ...

Re: 1660 Kalamazoo "The Fan" flips to Urban Format

WTOU 1560 is a Daytimer, 4.1 D3. WQLR 1660 is Fulltime, 10/1 U1. I don't think you can flip the translator to 1660 as the originating station. The AM and translator go together. The WRTH designation is clearer than the FCC designation in this case. The 95.5 translator is not subject to that restric...

Re: Blarney Stone Petitions FCC to cancel WLDR license

I don't see how this makes sense UNLESS they can leverage an agreement to drop the challenge in exchange for getting the station license at a discount. If the FCC revokes, it's a long hard battle to gain it back, and a lot of people will apply. Once the evidence has been presented by a station has ...

Re: WLDR Renewal Applications

Even worse is that he owned the tower site and lost it to a tax foreclosure a few years ago. He was going to be evicted but something was worked out. I sincerely don't think anyone is managing his properties. And the purchaser of the WLDR tower was non-other than Blarney Stone! https://fccinfo.com/...

When they went digital, they chose to remain on RF Channel 10. They also now simulcast all signals on RF Channel 29 (WLMN-LD), which has a fairly robust signal from a tower at Pennsylvania and 496,

Re: WBMI West Branch Brouhaha

WBMI has been silent since January 25. The receiver filed the first STA then. The recent filing was an extension of that STA.
