Re: Foxy 101 WFXZ Pinconning Music Survey 1985
I checked the searchable data from the chart, and the "D" is shown as "--", which would be an unpreviewed debut. The previewed debuts are usually shown as "PH" (Pick Hit) or "HB" (Hit Bound) in the LW column when they enter the numbered chart positions. Do you have a stash of Foxy 101 Surveys? I wa...

Re: Foxy 101 WFXZ Pinconning Music Survey 1985
tvbobn, what does "D" stand for on #28 and #30 previous week position column? Was this a published or in house survey? The "D" was definitely “Debut”. We reported to Gavin pretty much the whole time. Billboard on and off. R&R after they reissued that Arbitron that was screwed up. That was our in ho...

Re: WHPS 15.1
Oakland County resides within the pattern null. Still, predicted signal strength is decent in my location. Will see if I can pull it in over the next few days. Is that WJLB's tower site they are using? I just checked and you are correct, it is on the same tower as WJLB. 33-1 (15) WHPS-CD DETROIT, M...

Re: WHPS 15.1
Not a hint of any signal on RF15 inside the city limits (NW).Could be that my UHF split antenna panels are aimed from NE-NW, so If WHPS is still transmitting from Radio Place along I-96 I should be getting something from them off the back side regardless. The new tower site is just north of where t...

Re: The Last Radio Reunion presented by Lee Alan
Did anyone make it to this? I really wanted to go but had to work. It was a sell-out, but lots of room and time to chat with everyone. The guests were all over the room with time to spend talking with whoever. I had a great time seeing the people who I only knew from voices on the radio or from You...

Re: 40 years ago in 1979
Wikipedia got it wrong, WIOG debuted as a Top 40 station on August 28, 1979 'Nuff said!! I have to agree with your post. I don't remember any of the music services having a "reel to reel" AOR format. I don't know for sure what they were exactly in 79 into the 80's, but by early 83, they were Top 40...

Re: 40 years ago in 1979
Ahh yes, that fine WWWS audio, sounded almost like it was double pre-emphasized, it was really bright and very thin sounding. WSBM, I thought that was the TM 'Stereo Rock" format(Tapes) before they became WIOG, running beautiful music in the mid 70s. From Wikipedia: From the 1970s until September 1...

Re: 40 years ago in 1979
If you're going to talk about WIOG back in the day, you can't leave out Foxy101 of the discussion. We built WFXZ Foxy101 and turned on the transmitter in fall 1983. At that time WIOG was a class A FM station running reel to reel tapes from a Top 40 music service. I was told the AM guys watched until...

Re: WHNE 14.12
Channel 14 is a total waste since most of the metro Detroit area can't receive it anyway and wait until they move it to RF 3 it will be lucky to be recieved 2 blocks away. I'm quite familiar with the people that operate WHNE. I know for a fact that the station has viewers from Algonac to Ann Arbor,...

Re: Robert Liggett passes...
Sorry to hear this news. He was an owner in the early 70's. AM was King is those days and he saw "that other station" (FM) was the wave of the future before most other broadcasters figured it out. He owned stations in California too. I didn't notice anyone posting that info. When he sold out of radi...

Re: New channel frquencies
WNEM easily meets principal community coverage with a site near Frankenmuth. The digital principal city contour is far greater than the analog contour was. This is why WPXD, still licensed to Ann Arbor, can transmit from Southfield. Not WNEM, they're a Bay City station with tower site NE of Saginaw...

Re: New channel frquencies
I was looking at rabbitears the other night. I think the CW affiliate up there in F-S-BC area is switching to a 600kW transmitter when they do their phase 3 switchover from RF 46 to RF23. If so, they will be quite a powerful signal up there. You mention that they're going from 70kW ERP to 600kW ERP...

Re: New channel frquencies
WDWO is going from 18 to 22 WEYI in Saginaw in Phase 3 is going from 30 to 18, so WDWO should move off 18 by Friday, but can't move to soon as WNEM Bay City Phase 3 is going from 22 to 30. 22 won't be open for them until that change is made by WNEM. All 3 stations need to work together to avoid prob...

Re: 62.3 DABL ???
You guys do realize these networks pay the stations to run their programs don't you?
The network that pays the most gets the channel.
For the record, Decades doesn't pay very well.
