Re: Style Sheet comment thread

When I logged in just now it reverted back to the old stylesheet. Before I logged in it displayed the new stylesheet. Strange.

Edit: Just discovered this can be customized in the UCP. Learn something new every day.

The lower the frequency, the less power is required to maintain a similar footprint.

Steve Dahl to Leave WLS-AM in December

Apparently the numbers for his afternoon-drive show never caught on.

Dahl will continue his podcast which is a joint collaboration with Cumulus Media.

Re: The President of the USA Has A Mental Illness

Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter were probably two of the most down-to-earth presidents I've seen in my lifetime. As such, both seemed like fish out of water in the high office they held. Despite having campaigned against each other in 1976, the two became best of friends later in life....so much so tha...

Re: SNL and The Donald

The show open with Kate McKinnon (as Hillary) playing the piano and singing I Will Remember You the week after the election had me scratching my head. It was a serious skit that wasn't played for laughs, and I saw it purely as a political statements. Nothing against political statements, but I watch...

Re: The media's (and liberals') obsession over Betsy Devos

...The German system is a good model... they make the kids pick a career at the end of 8th grade and high school is chosen by what vocational they choose, then they are following their interests and not what somebody thinks they should care about... That's an interesting idea, and I think it has le...

Re: The media's (and liberals') obsession over Betsy Devos

Excellent points! We've managed to segregate skill sets into categories of "smart" and "dumb". Society looks down upon skilled workers who are considered not to be as "valuable" as someone with a Master's or P.h.D. Yet I challenge anyone to make such an assertion when their lights go out, their toil...

Re: The media's (and liberals') obsession over Betsy Devos

Just understand common core is NOT a federal thing... it's the result of a collaboration of states... I have seen the work as well and agree the problems are overly complex... for some reason people are thinking this is some sort of non-local thing when it's totally local... the reason they are doi...

Re: The media's (and liberals') obsession over Betsy Devos

I never understood why we have a federal Department of Education. I think education is better handled at the state level. And don't get me started on Common Core! I have personal experience working with my kids on this, especially in math. They've figured out how to take relatively simple problem-so...

Re: Are We Losing Our Ability to Laugh?

It depends on the side you are. That's a valid point. I think there's a natural tendency to look for the "deeper statement". Perhaps it's the centrist in me, but I tend not to read too much into it. I just want a good chuckle. Once I start analyzing comedy, it stops being comedy. As the old saying ...

Re: Are We Losing Our Ability to Laugh?

Saturday Night Live has been very political and rarely, if ever, funny for decades. Regardless of the cast and who is hosting, it's always like a bunch of drunk and high college students. The blatant Anti-Republican and Pro-Democrat agenda has been apparent for nearly all if not the entire run. It ...

Re: Are We Losing Our Ability to Laugh?

I wonder if an ever more demanding and complex world to work and conduct ones affairs in could lead to a bunch of unhappy and perpetually ready to explode people running around? Excellent point! Seems we're overloaded these days. Technology was touted in the 50's and 60's as this wonderful thing th...

Re: Switching to/from another station's signal for network s

WFSL-TV (now WSYM) secured an agreement with ABC in the early-mid 80's to air network shows that weren't picked up by WJRT. There was an antenna mounted on the high-rise across the street and a demod tuned to WXYZ, which was used to pick up program feeds. The quality of the off-air feed from WXYZ wa...
