Does 7 make programming decisions locally, or does corporate dictate daytime programming decisions?
The new Pictionary game show is brutally awful. Makes "The List" look compelling by comparison!
Perhaps 7 is trying to set a new ratings low point for itself in the 7:30 time slot!
Acceptable registrations in the queue through March 30 at 9:00a ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Re: Kudos to channel 7; thumbs down to everyone else
Overall, I thought the local stations did a very good job dispensing weather info late afternoon and early evening yesterday.

Re: Weather reporting
I looked at the language the SPC used for the watch issuance and preceding mesoscale discussion. They were definitely talking up the hail threat and stated "a couple tornadoes" were possible. There was some wind damage in Metro Detroit, but it was very spotty. Channel 7 turned out to be right; kudos...

...and now the two guys drafted on Thursday.
They have too many guards. They need more big men in the front court who can actually play. Beef Stew disappointed me last year, and Bagley is garbage. I'll hold out a bit of hope for Wiseman.

Re: Weather reporting
The new meteorologist on 7 last evening underestimated this afternoon and evening's large hail and tornado threats, in my opinion. She had the tornado risk barely above zero. With SSE winds near the surface, decent instability, and mid level winds taking on more of a westerly orientation as the cold...

Re: Paul W. Smith moving to middays + other changes at WJR
I have nothing to add; you did a great job touching on everything that's wrong with the weekend lineup. It features many hours worth of throwaway programming. Little to no sports programming (other than USFL football - barf), minimal news oriented programming, not even much in the way of "how to" ad...

Re: Update - sale of WDRQ to Family Life Radio CONFIRMED
I've said before that afternoon host Kevin Kennedy sounds like someone who would've been on Radio Disney. I wasn't far off! He used to be "Nudge at Night" on Star 94 in Atlanta in the 2000s, when the station played milquetoast pop music for kiddies in the suburbs. He used to do the Roll Call gimmick...

Re: Draft Lottery
Are you saying Thompson is akin to Jordan? :) Sorry, but I think your analogy is a rather poor one. There was no consensus "best player available" when the Pistons made their selection at five. That said, I will acknowledge there were a number of mock draft boards that had Ausar Thompson being taken...

Re: Why Doesn't This Article Have The Right Station Pattern?
It has a phenomenal signal in TC proper, no doubt.
There was certainly a time when The Fox FM (as variety hits or classic hits) and WSRT (as AC) had formats that could be sold in tandem but that was quite a while ago.It largely supplemented 106.7 when Northern existed.

Re: Update - sale of WDRQ to Family Life Radio CONFIRMED
93.1 sounds so unbelievably awful that Cumulus would be doing us a favor by taking the station off the air early.

Re: Why Doesn't This Article Have The Right Station Pattern?
R-L must not have had the directional pattern entered correctly in its database at some prior point in time. I've not been up north that far since CMU acquired 94.3 FM, but I can tell you that as a commercial station, 94.3's reception was always terrible in the Cadillac area, to the point of being u...

That's the guy. His material sounds darn good on many of the stations he voices or has voiced, but he was a poor fit for WTCF at the time.

Liggett Broadcasting owned WTCF-FM from October 1998 until February 2000, when Liggett sold most of its stations to Citadel. In turn, due to FCC caps, Citadel divested WTCF-FM to Wilks Broadcasting, who was responsible for the disaster known as Mix 100. Liggett owned the station when the original in...

The station's weekend schedule is an embarrassment.
