Re: Is it a common practice....
Very common practice. It is to reduce the noise. It extends the distance you can get the station without all kinds of reception issues, especially in a car. For monaural programming, there's not much point in broadcasting in Stereo. In the old days, you could just push the Mono/Stereo button and it ...

Re: Local Media Blames Messenger for WSJ Column about Dearborn
Could something about the WSJ author's faith be triggering this response? I told you about my neighbor 50 years ago who said he was born in Palestine, and said flat out he hated adherents to that faith. His extended family recently gave a contribution to one of the squad members. Even if there is ju...

Call her up. You can probably find her number online. I suspect she's very lonely. And very angry. A good match for you.
You might end up on the wrong end of a Dateline episode though. Check her laundry room for bleach bottles first.

She Talks Crazy Talk
If you believe this crap, YOU are the one who is crazy. At first, I thought it was satire. Or maybe the Babylon Bee on an off day. So this is where "The Flower Children" were going back in 1967?

The IBOC Sidebands are there. So Stereo should be possible on the AM signal.

Re: Please Help Decipher Mystery Word in 910 WFDF Promo
Since the last time I checked, the IBOC sidebands around 910 kHz are still there, so I assume it would still be possible to broadcast in Stereo on the AM signal. I'll check for the sidebands later when the skywave starts rolling in. I'll have to check the Accurian when I have access to it.

Re: If You Like Your Car, You Can Keep Your Car?
Progress is rarely easy. Hell, I could be stuck listening to AM radio instead of 60,000,000 songs at my finger tips for $5 a month. Considering that there hasn't been a battery developed for cars without serious problems in the last 100 years, I'm not so sure about progress. Then there's these litt...

Re: WBKB Partners with UpNorthLive
There's a reason why no one ever built a full power commercial station in Alpena to compete with WBKB. And WBKB is a right sized fill in service for the underserved area. The area would have been OK if the Low VHF analog stations were still around. A 100 kW analog station on Channels 2-6 used to ge...

Considering that EVs present an entirely new set of problems, maximum range without recharging, limited recharging stations, increasing electric consumption and overloading the present grid, EV batteries creating all kinds of new pollution problems, especially disposal, and EVs catching fire and blo...

Re: WBKB Partners with UpNorthLive
Maybe Sinclair wants to buy WBKB. With all four major networks on sub channels, it probably does better than you might think. Remember, Northern Michigan, though large in area, doesn't have that many people. With WBKB's "peanut" shaped directional pattern, serving mainly the Alpena Oscoda Tawas Area...
