Bell makes a post-Boxing Day "Move"
On the one hand, the two "EZ Rock" stations had outgrown that branding, as they were neither rock nor EZ anymore. On the other hand, it's sad to see heritage names like QM-FM, Magic 100 and C100 get tossed aside. But that's Bell for you. I'm surprised CHUM-FM didn't get the same. https://radioinsigh...

Re: 1660 Kalamazoo "The Fan" flips to Urban Format
Call signs have now swapped as well. 1660 is now WTOU and 1560 is now WQLR. I'd assume they're going to try to sell off 1560, otherwise they'd have just turned the license in. Somewhere I have an aircheck of WBUK's oldies format from about 1981. It was given to me by the late Jim Heddle of Ann Arbor...

Anyone who truly "lives and breathes Alternative music" isn't listening to, or interested in working at, 98.7, I can guarantee.

Re: WLLZ isn't going to change, WIDL is where it's at
Interesting post, which brought to mind "crossovers". Whatever happened to crossovers on CHR radio? There's always been tailor-made Top 40 pop product, but I can vividly remember DRQ playing Fuel, Aerosmith, Blink 182, Green Day, and Faith Hill crossovers, amongst others. Rock, Alternative Rock, Ac...

Re: Northern Michigan Radio Is Abysmal
Try WNMC I would if it came in better in the Gaylord area. Sometimes I can get a faint signal on a car radio, but it quickly disappears east of town thanks to WPHN. I visited WNMC in 1997 or '98 while college hunting. Then as now, they were very well put together for a college station. Not surprise...

Re: Northern Michigan Radio Is Abysmal
Listeners who enjoy pop music don't have it much better, to be honest. KHQ has always been a "safe" milquetoast kind of CHR, but the last time I was up there they were sounding like full-out Hot AC. Alpena's 107.7 actually sounded as contemporary as KHQ, if not more so. Z93 is the closest thing to a...

Re: New GR radio ratings - Thunder reaches new record low; Star 105.7 continues to struggle
Even though Star 105.7 remained unchanged, 100.5 The River saw a boost - and shockingly - now leads 105.7 by seven tenths of a share! (I suspect 105.7 is probably still in the lead in A25-54, but I could be wrong about that.) Two observations that may explain that: A. Soft AC is continuing to do re...

If you use Google Chrome, right click on it and then click Open Image in New Tab, and it will show up in a new window.
I assume WTHM-AM and FM simulcast at this time? Was the Country format full time or on a block programmed basis?

Re: 1660 Kalamazoo "The Fan" flips to Urban Format
Are they trying to extend an olive branch to Battle Creek listeners who lost their station when 930/102.7 went Oldies? 1660 can be heard across much of the state, especially this time of year. Neither 1560 nor 95.5 has good coverage in BC.

"Go" is Go-ing away in the Twin Cities
95.3 and 96.3 are being sold to EMF and are expected to add to the list of K-Love and Air1 drones. Those two networks are already heard on translators in the market fed by HD side channels of iHeart stations.

Re: The Breeze Drifts Away
WNIC tweaked a bit softer this spring and summer and sounded quite good; they added some Breeze staples such as Bette Midler back into rotation. They've since tweaked back hotter again while keeping some of those softer titles but playing them next to "Sexyback" by Justin Timberlake (puke) or worse ...
