Re: WFUR FM Sold, New Owners Filing Status Change for Commercial Station

Neither are WKPR-AM 1440/FM 105.1 Kalamazoo apparently. I suspect they and WFUR-AM/translator may still be up for sale regardless.

This surprises me. i always thought the Kuipers would hang on to their stations until the second coming and beyond.

"Mrs Warmth", whoever she is (Lori Bennett probably), is obviously a Cumulus corporate shill.

Re: WVKS (92-5 Kiss FM) Music Choice?

I think you mean Premium Choice. And remember, this is Toledo's #1 radio station. Sad.

Anyone think the time could be ripe for a hyper-local CHR competitor? Tower 98 took a pretty good bite out of Kiss's ratings 15 or so years ago. Cumulus can't be counted on to do that now of course.

Re: 2k1 Radio in Detroit

Sounds more like a small market format. Other than Lansing, the only other "Fuel" stations I know of are in unrated markets like Jackson, Ohio and Morehead, Kentucky. It seems like that package has about 17 different formats depending on which time of the day or week you tune in. College stations a...

Re: 2k1 Radio in Detroit

The reason stations stay stuck in the '80s and that '90s-based formats have largely failed is that the '80s (specifically around 1983-1986) was really the last decade of mass-appeal Top 40 before it started to splinter off into Hot AC, Rhythmic CHR, Rock 40, and so on. You couldn't play all the musi...

Re: Format change at 107.5?

"Good Time Rock and Roll" was the slogan they used when they were known as Oldies 107.5. I agree with M.W., this move makes sense. CCW-AM was probably cannibalizing CCW-FM to an extent.

Re: Beautiful Music Stations in Detroit

I wasn’t in Michigan but I remember in the mid ‘70s Steve Trivers and Bill Wertz produced a beautiful music format that one of the Detroit stations used. I believe it was WWJ’s FM station. It was the format they used on WQLR, a mix of light pop (John Denver, Johnny Mathis, etc) as well as the tradi...

Since the moderator isn't going to do anything about the person I suspect the OP is talking about, despite repeated requests from numerous posters, I suggest the best thing to do is "foe" him so you can't see his posts. Feeding the troll by suggesting his nonsense is worth replying to just encourage...

Re: Cincinnati holiday book

Mix 98-1 is back to Hot AC (this week anyway). Still Premium Choice, of course. They and WRVF do run the same corporate '80s music logs on Friday nights. Speaking of Premium Choice CHR, in some parts of Ohio one can hear 92.5 Kiss FM Toledo, 93.9 Kiss FM Lima, and Y105 Mansfield, all running the sam...

Re: Holy Toledo Radio Confusion

I've never heard hateful or bigoted content on K-Love or Smile FM, and as uninspired and cookie-cutter as the modern CCM music can be, I like that those stations stay away from political talk and keep it positive. In fact, many conservative evangelical types condemn K-Love for not being conservative...

NHK has some very high powered MW frequencies across Japan. Radio 1 frequencies: 567 Sapporo (100kw), 594 Tokyo (300kw), 612 Fukuoka (100kw), 666 Osaka (100kw), 729 Nagoya (50kw) Tokyo and Osaka are slated to upgrade to 500kw this year and Nagoya to 300kw. Radio 2 frequencies: 693 Tokyo (500kw), 747...

Re: LGBTQ+ News Personalities

Fox 2's Josh Landon has always "pinged" for me. Among former Detroiters, there's Mike Huckman and John Klekamp, both formerly of WXYZ. Huckman went on to CNBC and is a PR man today, while Klekamp worked for News 12 New Jersey until 2015. They married in 2004 and live in North Carolina last I heard. ...

Re: The End of 107.3 The Wave Cleveland

Rubber City did just flip 1590 WAKR and its FM translator to Soft AC. I wish they'd dump this "jenY" nonsense and just simulcast the WAKR format on 107.3. Seems to me it'd be a good way to hit both Cleveland and Akron filling the gap between WMJI and WDOK. Or a more authentic Triple A like 107.1 in ...

Re: "Toledo's #3 radio station- K100!"

Does WJLB actually subscribe to Toledo ratings, or was its listing an oversight? One has to figure some of K100's listeners went over to The River for Christmas music. 103.7's classics format seems to be making some headway as well and probably grabbed some of K100's upper end. Wonder how 107.7 The ...

So I was mistaken about WNIC. Their 14.8 is down from 17.9 last year, 15.8 in '17. (Thanks, RadioInsight.)
