Re: VHF signal quality issues on Fox 2

An update of my own: as of tonight, with the snow rushing in, WDIV no longer frequently wipes out. I watched WJBK for a little bit last night and it didn't drop out at all.

Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction) & Initial FM Collocation Analysis

I don't know of a single city with a building of that size, circa 1000 feet, being built, that would be the tallest in that city, that has not ended up with a lot of the FM and or TV stations relocating to the taller tower. You probably may not know too much about New York City then. Originally, th...

Re: VHF signal quality issues on Fox 2

I haven't yet noticed any problems, though I last watched this channel on Friday. What I have noticed however is that WDIV's signal has once again started having quality issues starting yesterday. During New Amsterdam it dropped and came back about every 10 minutes or so. Two-story home in Wyandotte...

Re: The Good Old Days of Full-Powered Analog TV

To get back on to the original topic of this thread (somewhat), anyone remember the pre-fiber-optic days of cable when cable channels 2-13 would often receive heavy interference from any nearby OTA VHF stations? This was heavily prevalent with 2/4/7/9, because back in the day both Wayne Cablevision/...

Re: The Good Old Days of Full-Powered Analog TV

That reminded me to repost this photo that I posted before but was lost in the big forum crash. This was a typical old-fashioned Metro Detroit rooftop antenna setup that I spotted early in 2018 on 22nd Street in Wyandotte that was already decommissioned and which would be removed a short time afterw...

Re: Best Local TV News in Detroit

I rarely watch the local TV news these days, but I do occasionally turn on 2 during the morning for something to have on in the background while I mull on my PC.

Re: The Good Old Days of Full-Powered Analog TV

Well a test is coming up soon. WLAJ/WLNS has an approved CP for 950 kW on channel 14. This is being built right now and will move both stations to the old Okemos site. Maybe we'll be playing Loverboy for Taylor again soon. (this is just a joke from me, I often heard this request picking up the phon...

The Good Old Days of Full-Powered Analog TV

This is the second time this thread had to be remade...the last two attempts at this thread were deleted in forum crashes. Remember the pre-2009 days when, through over-the-air pickups, analog signals were more reliable? The signals would often have larger "Grade A" and "Grade B" coverage far beyond...

Re: The Friendly Giant and Mr. Dress Up

What I do know as well (thanks to old online newspaper archives) is that back when they were in first-run, CKLW showed all three of the syndicated Hanna-Barbera cartoon series that were airing in the early 1960's-Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw and Yogi Bear.

Re: 98.7 The Breeze just ruined itself with new RnB playlist

Its pretty balanced. Here are the last 12 artists theyve played: -Fugees (R&B?) -Poison: Every Rose Has Its Thorn (acoustic ballad) -Stevie Wonder (kind of R&B) -Simply Red (Soul/pop crossover) -Paula Cole(Pop) -Billy Joel ( Pop) -Earth Wind and Fire (defies categorization- r&B, pop, jazz, disco fu...

I probably won't notice terribly much as long as the Tigers continue to remain at the bottom of the barrel.

Uh, most of us don't automatically know what Tegna's graphics look like. Do you have any examples? What I can tell you for now is that WTOL is currently having some sort of identity crisis-for now, they're still using the final Raycom graphics, but their copyright tag now shows this: https://i.imgu...

Strangely enough, this is how WLLZ made it's debut. At first, the air talent had no names.
I bet that this was very confusing so they decided to go with using names.

Gray/Raycom deal officially done, WTOL now a Tegna station

This was announced just tonight.

Would be very interesting to see Tegna's graphics pop up sometime soon on WTOL/WUPW.
