Re: TV Tuners

They might but I'm sure they are few and far between. We have an antenna on the roof with a rotor and the number of stations picked up with the smart TV is quite limited probably because the older TV had more sensitive tuners. It's like years ago when they started adding 8-track and cassette players...

TV Tuners

Christmas 2019, our kids bought us a new Vizio smart TV. They were really excited about getting that for us. We had a smaller Vizio which met our needs. We only watch OTA programming. The situation is that the new TV picks up only half of the stations we watch. Can anyone recommend a good stand-alon...

Re: #'s wise, Something IS afoot.

Grand Rapids doesn't need nearly as many full power FM stations as a Major Market. There are not enough people to support that many. The original spacing rules and classes precluded that many stations. In retrospect, those newer drop in rules and too many move ins/squeeze ins were a mistake for Gra...

Re: 4 Channel, Quadraphonic Sound

I remember when W4 106fm was Quad. I still have a few W4 Quad 106fm t-shirts. Was that in the Detriot area? Yes, W4 was a Detroit original. The studio was located on Jefferson Ave. 2930 East Jefferson to be exact, I know that place well. Since I'm not in the business and have always lived near Gran...

4 Channel, Quadraphonic Sound

So whatever happened to this sound craze from the 70s. I remember going to a William's Magnavox store out on Plainfield in Grand Rapids to check this out. They had a really small room there where you could stand in the middle and listen to their demo of a motorcycle circling the room. The only radio...

I see pictures of soldiers in "blackface" all the time. Football players seem to be covering more of their faces in black "grease". No need to second guess your dad who was trying to bring some joy to his children.

Re: December Nielsen #'s for G.R. - worst book in nearly 30 years for WSNX!

The 1.1 that Real Oldies got this time around is not the highest ever or for even the past year. Real Oldies had a 1.6 followed by a 1.3, then a 1.1 in I believe May, June and July of 2020. The highest ratings ever for Real Oldies was a 2 share back in 2015. Not really mixing it up with the Big Boy...

I am anxious to see what impact this has on AM 1480. I suspect 1480's audience is very loyal and likes the authentic and full-service sound of the station.
We are a loyal bunch...and we put our money where our mouths are. :)

Re: WLLA adds another sub Channel...

We watch WLLA for 99% of our TV viewing except for 10 minutes of weather forecasts. My favorite show has to be reruns of Dick Cavat shows on the Decade's channel. Not only does he have a great wit but where else can you see interviews of Groucho Marx, George Harrison, Jimmi Hendrix, Howard Cosel, Jo...

Re: Michigan auto insurance reform - rate change sneak peek

To follow up on an earlier comment of mine: If you have Medicare Plan A or B, you are entitled to $250,000 of personal injury protection coverage for free. If you want unlimited PIP coverage, you'll have to pay for it just like now (although premium will be less than under current law). The above s...

Does anyone know how Medicare factors into all of this? Thanks.
