Re: WMT 600 Cedar Rapids Legendary Self Supporting Tower Collapses In A Storm
WTVN 610 has been on 1250 watts STA after one of their six towers collapsed and NIMBY Zoning restrictions have prevented them from REBUILDING AND REPLACING their tower built in the exact same spot circa 1940. It will be interesting to see if WMT has similar issues. Yet new Cell Phone towers seem to...

Re: WWJ sounds great right now! Full 10 kHz analog bandwidth!
I thought it was just me having aural hallucinations. WWJ's board audio sounds like processed crap, like it had been before that brief foray into quality audio, and the hash-o-matic is hashing away again on either side of the 950 carrier. Add to that the glitchy IP audio from traffic and weather and...

KYW Newsradio cuts teletype background sound
August 7 2020- "A familiar sound in Philadelphia radio vanished from the airwaves in recent weeks, as KYW Newsradio 1060 [Entercom] chose to ditch the clicking teletype noise that has filled the background of broadcasts for decades." https://www.phillyvoice.com/kyw-newsradio-1060-stops-teletype-soun...

Re: Cellphones with FM Chip
All cell phones have FM chips, as they are required by federal law. I have not found a federal statute or FCC reg that requires FM chips in cell phones. Many phones do have an FM chip on board, but as mentioned, cell carriers thwart its activation or use. Not all phones have FM chips. Apple has not...

Re: AM reception question
Time to sunset AM radio. It’s becoming more useless as more electronic devices are being used. The FCC should consider a mandate to shut all AM stations off by 2035. Create a new FM band for AM stations to move onto that band. A sentiment expressed by some, but provides no assistance to the OP, see...

Re: AM reception question
Especially with older house wiring, activating a circuit or device (like the hallway lights) may possibly be temporarily altering marginally flaky common (neutrals) or grounding paths.

Re: 7 news hits a new low with the political bias
I don't remember if it was her, but one of the anchors is referring to the federal folks as "federal troops" instead of officers. Are they subliminally trying to suggest military? You seriously think this is just "subliminal suggestion?" Of course it's military, no ambiguity about it. And they're n...

Re: Numerous FM translators are off the air this morning
There was a power failure across the street from this tower site in Oak Park from Saturday night until Sunday afternoon. It only effected a few DTE customers, but one of those customers was the tower site. The three full power TV stations were on generators, but everything else was off the air for ...

I think Jim Zinnser was there when it was still WHFI.
Lynne Woodison, but I think maybe not until it became WMJC.

Re: WTVS repack upgrades completed
WMYD 20 (long-long-ago analog RF 20) is at RF 31, on the candelabra at 8 Mile/Meyers Rd., along with WTVS and WWJ-TV. WHNE, RF 3, which had been on RF 20 pre-repack, is side mount on the same tower, as is WUDL (or WUDT?). On ATC's "WKBD" tower on 11 Mile are WKBD and WPXD up top, and side mount WDWO...

Re: FETV
I don't quite understand how to access digital subchannels. Is it because I have Satellite, or do I just have no idea how to work my TV? Over the Air (OTA) Digital Television (DTV) does not transmit analog pictures and sound. Since 1999, TV stations transmit data, the content of which happens to be...
