Barrington was bad — no doubt. But at least people cared.

Sinclair is worse. Much worse.
No they didn’t.

Re: Genesee Valley Mall shooting (NBC 25)

A long time ago, I was working in MCR on a Sunday morning. I was really hung over, fell asleep, and missed the first manually triggered local break. Since that break never ran, the other timed breaks and WX updates never got cued up and they didn’t run either. Thankfully, I woke up right before the ...

This is one of the greatest standups. It could have gone very wrong, but he nailed it! Well done!

Re: Which Detroit station will make the bold move back to the city??

Why would a station want to put their employees lives at risk by moving back to the city? That has no bearing on a newscast. It would not be a bold move, it would be a bad move. Lives at risk? Lighten up Francis. Have you ever seen how people drive in southern Oakland County? Walking in Downtown Det...

Re: Carolyn Clifford being inducted into Michigan Hall of Fame

There’s no other anchor I’d rather work with in a breaking news situation. I can name 3 others off the top of my head who run circles around her. Someone needs to fix the ventilation at broadcast house because it sounds like they're breathing their own farts again. Um… sure. I was just giving my op...

Re: Carolyn Clifford being inducted into Michigan Hall of Fame

So Herm. You actually work at Broadcast House? Not just a bystander like the rest of us? There's a question I had awhile ago that even EditorCJ said he wasn't sure of. What’s up? Thanks for the reply. My question is this: Is WXYZ at liberty to show GMA on one of the sub-channels or TV20, and keep t...

Re: Carolyn Clifford being inducted into Michigan Hall of Fame

I know that this thread will probably end up filled with people’s opinions of Carolyn’s on-air delivery. I’ll accept that opinions vary and everyone is entitled to theirs. Personally, I think she’s great on air. She has paid her dues. She nails cold reads often and she is really quick on her feet. T...

Aren't they sitting at the same anchor desk that's always used?
It’s the same desk but we moved it to a different part of the studio. Basically, we needed the anchors to be sitting farther apart and the normal location of the desk had them sitting on a riser that made that impossible.

Re: New ABC logo (well, sorta)

Is WXYZ renovating its news set? Over the past two to three weeks, I've noticed only a small portion of its set (i.e. the area directly in front of the video wall) is being utilized. If yes - hopefully the next one is a little brighter and less dreary looking. Nope… it’s delta variant related. We n...

Re: Does anyone have video of Sinklair signing his/her/its contract under gunpoint?

Really Matt? You want to pick this fight? I personally support what he or she is doing. It explains a lot when you watch their on air news product, which lacks a lot as of late. Maybe come up here, watch and you’ll understand It's not a fight - it's pointing out facts. This person insults leadershi...

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV

I think I saw a chance of showers and thundershowers Tuesday evening into very early Wednesday morning and again Friday. Otherwise, partly cloudy to mostly sunny. Temps near average except upper 80s tomorrow and mid to upper 70s Wednesday. No big heat in sight for this part of the country, just as ...

Re: Andrea Isom no longer at WXYZ

She is super nice and genuinely cares about people. In an industry filled with self centered fugazis, she’s a breath of fresh air. I am gonna miss seeing her by the coffee machine and in the break room. She might be a very nice and pleasant person, but her on-air persona and delivery felt like the ...

Re: When did Bill Harris retire?

Bill was “laid off” in the latest round of Sinclair cuts. Another example of a classless move by the corporate Death Star. The new handpicked Sinclair GM and the In Over Her Head News Director were able to get around the position cut by essentially making Bill a freelance independent contractor wor...
