Re: Christmas Music on WNIC
Incidentally, part of that period you charted (8am-12pm Sunday) is where they rerun the old Casey Kasem American Top 40/American Top 20 Christmas specials, in the same timeslot where they usually run AT40 The '80s. A lot of the older songs not on the corporate Premium Choice playlist (i.e. Yogi Yor...

Re: New Weather Center Being Built at WOOD TV 8.
I guess they were going for the opposite of the look in Bill Steffen's house (which I liked for that retro-TV vibe). It looks nice.
It also makes me think of buying a big screen TV at Best Buy, with the available models on the wall, and the workstation as the check-out area.

Re: Rolling Stones 2021
If you'd thought you'd be paying $450 for concert tickets 40 years on, that would also have seemed ridiculous from the 1981 point-of-view. I was also at the '81 show, and got my ticket through the mail (and still have it somewhere) for what I recall as around $10 - $12. Saw them in '89, twice around...

Re: Mike Nesmith has taken the Last Train To Clarksville
Of the people listed posthumously, and yes, it's a roll call of that sometimes, Nesmith was one of the few who'd still been somewhat active in the past 5 years. TV show notwithstanding, he and the Monkees have been known names for over 50 years, with the songs still heard to this day. He was also th...

Sondheim's lyrics in "West Side Story" are being brought back to theaters with the remade movie now showing. His career was lengthy, and he left a lot of great work for generations to enjoy.

Re: John O'Leary RIP
Your information offered is much appreciated, Musicrewired. Glad to pass it along. I've noticed that online profiles stay online indefinitely if no one manages them. I see that the Linkedin profile for a broadcaster I knew who passed away over 3 years ago remains up as if they were still at work. T...

https://m.facebook.com/john.oleary.399 John's career stops are listed here, and also found on his LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-o-leary-8138bb6 A horrible story to have to hear. I remember listening to John over the years, and he always sounded natural on the air, which suited him ...

Did someone switch this to Political Potpourri? This is about a meteorologist who declined to get vaccinated. Someone considering an abortion or having a tattoo isn't a potential risk due to others possibly contracting their condition. A person wearing a blue shirt or driving a red car is also makin...

Re: CKWW (?) 580 AM
I've streamed CKWW regularly (including today), since I'm usually out of range. Charlie, Bill Gable, Super Max Kinkel, Scott Miller, Ted Richards, Pat Holiday, and Johnny Williams are the first air names that come to mind, and the music really fits the Big 8 sound well. Had the opportunity to meet M...

Re: No posts about radio
I've seen the lack of interest in the subject of radio on this forum for a while. The topic is usually met with the Buzzboard equivalent of static. Radio may not be very interesting in the area, but it's not unique to mid-Michigan. The people reading aren't very interested in that part of the media ...

Re: WLUC fires Weather Staffer
https://www.facebook.com/karl.bohnak.9/posts/4251629954945079 Mr. Bohnak let us know his stance on the current situation. His use of the word "fired" points toward a victim status. He voluntarily chose not to do what was required by his employer. That sounds more like a voluntary resignation to me. ...

Re: Strike three for Jack Morris
Has Jack ever been accused of saying he was "over her head"? If so, we could tie the subject of the thread together with the sub-theme at hand, and negate the "stay-on-topic" undercurrent that seems to happen whenever it gets pointed out that Sinclair, company that they are, have fallen short of exc...

Re: Peter Cavanaugh Has Passed Away
He was another of the radio people from the pre-deregulation era, when local radio was actually that. I've found his post-career comments on that time as enlightening, and I'm saddened to learn of his passing. I'd think he'd merit more notice here on the 'board, but sometimes the noise from the curr...
