Re: Spike out at 955

I'm not a fan of Mojo's show at all, either, but why upset the apple cart?

WKQI probably bills about $9 million a year, maybe $10 million. Definitely in the top six or seven billers.

Re: Potential for major severe weather outbreak tomorrow (Wednesday)

It's not (yet) a near certainty, but the risk of tornadoes, hail, damaging winds, and flash flooding are all in play for tomorrow. Per the NWS forecast discussion from DTX, there are some factors in play that could limit mid-layer instability tomorrow, which could prevent surface based storms from t...

Re: I guess local TV stations no longer broadcast weather warnings?

The humanoids at local TV and radio outlets better be "weather aware" tomorrow: https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day2otlk.html It is quite possible a section of lower Michigan will be upgraded to moderate risk (level 4 of 5) tomorrow, most likely along and east of M-66. Northern IN and NW O...

Re: Fox 2 Is Getting a New Weather Person

Nexstar, who owned WISH-TV at the time, couldn't play nice in the sandbox with CBS. When the affiliation agreement ended several years ago, CBS moved to channel 4 there (owned by Tribune at the time). CW programming, which was dislocated from channel 4, wound up on WISH. Ironically, with Nexstar now...

Re: Spike out at 955

Mojo could've fought for Spike's retention had he chosen. Without his morning show, 95.5 would be an also-ran. He will renew his contract with iHM like always without regard to protection for his cast members.

If I were 98.7, I'd hire Spike the instant his non-compete expires.

Re: I guess local TV stations no longer broadcast weather warnings?

That sounds about right. My folks were working in the yard outside their home in Byron Twp. when the earthquake happened. It was definitely noticed! Not only did the ground shake, but a loud subterranean rumble was audible. The earthquake as I recall happened in the early afternoon. I actually could...

Re: Fox 2 Is Getting a New Weather Person

I believe that's right. Lori Pinson picked up extra hours, which is fine by me. I think she does a good job.

Re: I guess local TV stations no longer broadcast weather warnings?

I wouldn't say dropped the ball, the storm looked deceptively tame. I was a few miles to the west of the path and the only clue was hail that looked like the tiniest of sleet pellets and a sudden torrent of rain. The usual signs just were not there. I agree. Based on the radar data, the risk of a t...

I don't remember him ever working in Lansing. He worked at a Modern AC station in Dallas before Detroit.

Re: Spike out at 955

She should've been the one dumped, but she's female, perhaps younger, and probably has a lower salary. At least she's received some decent coaching in recent years; she no longer talks like a speed reader. Hopefully Spike received a decent buyout / severance package. Mojo doesn't seem to give a rat'...

Re: Fox 2 Is Getting a New Weather Person

WISH-TV was a powerhouse until they lost their CBS affiliation. Station probably bills squat now and will have some ugly negotiations in store come cable retrans renewal time.

Re: Detroit Pistons 2022-23

The Pistons have now lost 20 of their last 21 games (!!!). Last night, they lost by 26 points to a team that was 11 games below .500 entering the contest. Notice how Tom Gores has seemingly gone into hiding? Would also be nice if the lapdog losers in our local media would ask Troy Weaver a tough que...

Re: Nielsen Ratings for February

There's not enough daylight between WOMC and WCSX, in my opinion.

Musically, WLLZ is positioned right where it should be.

The station that needs to be altered is Alt 98.7. They should expand the library and devote more music slots to material from the 90s and early 00s.

Re: More layoffs going down at Sinclair Stations including Flint

WWMT is not the number one station in West Michigan. That is WOOD. You need to look closely at the fine print for the time, counties and demos they are using to say they are the most watched. If you look at DMA households for all dayparts, WOOD is still the top station by a long shot. WWMT is histo...
