Manistee County should've never been added to the Traverse City/Petoskey market in the first place.
I wonder what has hurt WTCM more, losing 93.5 or getting its most popular county removed from the market.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through March 16 at 11:00a ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Re: Northern Michigan dual TV channel ID
Ben did a better job than me explaining the shortcomings of the current site. It's in a low lying area and signal propagation is definitely hampered by terrain shadowing. As mentioned in another post, there is a lot of signal overlap with WGTQ as well. Usage of a site closer to Petoskey would make ...

1. 96.1 the Game did even worse (a 0.9 share!)
2. Jethro FM shows up with a 0.7, which is impressive for a daytimer AM with two less-than-optimal translators.

98.1 should be available as WHWL's new full power station is replacing a nearby translator on said frequency.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 9:36 am89.3, 89.5, 89.7, 89.9, 90.3 and any number of different channels in the commercial part of the FM band should all be options.

1210 is slightly more valuable because it has the translator attached to itColonel Flagg wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 12:00 pmI wonder if Mr. Yob will bother to get 1110 and 1210 back on-air before they expire?
1210 sits on an old landfill. That can't be good for resale.

Gold-based country would make sense so they're not competing directly with the 800-pound gorilla that is WTCM-FM. Speaking of good signals, that one makes it farther south on US-31 than WKZC! I'm usually able to carry 'TCM to around the Oceana/Muskegon county line (and is rock-solid to the big hill ...

Re: Look at all the FCC silent notifications in N. Michigan...
A lot of stations use off air antennas to feed the satellites and translators, at least as a backup. But somebody has to notice and report it when it's silent. Off-air can work, but it can come back to bite you during "conditions" when you inadvertently end up simulcasting a co-channel FM from hund...

In 2003 arguably the best sales team in the area was under his roof. Then he started to "adjust" things. It was an excellent plan that executed so poorly, they should study it at the Comm school at MSU. Is that around the time that they poached Ryan Dobry from WTCM, only for most of her listenershi...

It's impressive how WLAW managed to get 6kW despite being short-spaced (or nearly short-spaced) to WLAV and WJIM

Are you sure about that? The majority in Northern MI certainly are. Station values have plummeted for a reason. Midwestern and MacGarb will never get the value of what their properties were worth 20 years ago. They will probably dissolve in a similar fashion to Northern Broadcasting when the respec...

Re: FM power in different areas
I've also noticed that Chicago only has one grandfathered power FM, 90.1 WMBI (which also happens to be one of two stations below 92 MHz that cover most of the market). In Los Angeles and San Francisco, most of the full-market FMs have grandfathered power (with a few exceptions in each market)
