Re: NBC LX Launches in Detroit

I just find it a bit confusing that NBC saw Sinclair Broadcast Group's "TBD" digital subnetwork and thought "I want a piece of that pie!"... most people in my generation (millennials) and younger aren't that interested in watching television these days :P

Re: WXYZ branding

Oh that's on youtube. Lemme find it... Scroll to 14:00 in. it's in the retrospective special WXYZ ran the week after his death: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atQgRAIJPEY That July 14, 1989 broadcast was absolutely insane. There was also this very combative interview with Utah Senator Orrin Hatch f...

Re: WXYZ branding

if you love that news team from about 20 years back, you'd absolutely LOVE "Michigan's First News Team" of Doris Biscoe, Al Ackerman, Bill Bonds, Jerry Hodak, and Diana Lewis... THAT was Channel 7's "dream team" in the early 1970s to the early 1990s. I think Steve Garagiola (now at Local 4) actually...

Re: Channel 31

That would be ION Television's station, WPXD-TV. It moved from UHF 50 to UHF 24. You might have to try typing in "24" on your TV set so it re-maps to the new frequency.

Re: WFHD-LP

Ohh yes. I've only picked up WGGN-TV 52 a few times when they were still broadcasting their digital signal on UHF 42. Was very tricky because CKCO would wipe them out a lot of the time. Yeah, if they have a severe null to protect WGGN, then there might be little point to me buying a bigger antenna. ...

Re: WFHD-LP

I don't remember a channel 66 in Toledo... or a 36 in Detroit. I know there were both UHF 68 stations in Detroit and Toledo until the mid-1990s, however... and I remember the others, though.. As for wireless microphones using VHF 4... I don't know if it's a nation-wide thing, but I know that there's...

Re: WXYX- TV Storm Coverage

I'm genuinely amazed that we didn't see any funnel clouds or tornadoes, since storms that have the energy to produce golfball or egg-sized hailstones tend to also produce tornadoes. I had no problem with the storm coverage last night since I saw quite the lightning show (alongside high winds and a l...

Re: Channel-Sharing, Canadian Style

If I remember correctly, Global's signal *is* nulled towards Detroit, and yes, it is the most difficult Canadian station for me to pick up, because of that. Don't' fret if you don't receive it, because I often have difficulty tuning in, too!

Re: WFHD-LP

Ringtail....are u able to get WHNE rf3 with your antenna?? Sadly no, and not for lack of trying! it's rated for channels 7-69, though I hope to one day get a VHF-Low/FM/VHF-Hi/UHF combo antenna so i can pick them up once again. As for WDMY-LD in Toledo.. I never picked them up. The farthest LPTV si...

Re: WFHD-LP

they could try asking for VHF 6 or VHF 2... VHF 4 is reserved for wireless microphones, 3 is used by WHNE-LD and 5 is used by WLMB-TV in Toledo... but those are the only realistic options left for them.

Re: WFHD-LP

there's no way the FCC would allow them to use UHF 18... it's too shortspaced to WDTJ-LD in Toledo (also on 18). 30 *might* be doable if they're directional away from Leamington to protect CFTV-DT...

I dunno.... ratings for both stations would probably increase if that were to happen :lol
