Channel 4 had a show called "Beat the Champ" back in the '60s... it aired late at night but allegedly had hee-yooge ratings. Which I suppose isn't hard if you're the only program on the air at 1:30am.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through May 6 at 7:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Re: Michigan Radio drops "Radio" from its name
PBS and NPR obviously don't cater to those whose idea of "solid educational programming" is PragerU. Fortunately, if that describes you, you have other options where you can rest assured you'll never hear anyone who isn't a heterosexual, cisgender WASP described in anything less than demonizing term...

Re: Lansing is losing Antenna TV and Circle
Appears to be a corporate move, as all of Gray's NBC affiliates did the same. Gray having bad blood with NBC? Apparently Gray is moving to de-emphasize network affiliations for all of their stations, according to this forum thread: https://forums.tvnewstalk.net/topic/17000-the-ever-evolving-gray-gr...

Here’s more on the channel changes: https://thedesk.net/2023/12/outlaw-the365-replacing-circle-country-january-2024/ https://www.wilx.com/2023/12/19/new-channel-line-up-coming-wilx-january-1-2024/ It also appears that WILX and sister station WLUC owner Gray TV just extended its NBC affiliations: ht...

You live in Brighton, IIRC. My mom's girlfriend works at the Brighton Costco and said she felt nothing. Maybe there was an "acoustic shadow" of sorts?Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 1:15 amHow the hell did I miss this? This isn't far from me, either. Absolutely terrible. Those poor souls.

Whitmore Lake House Explosion
https://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/2023/12/4-dead-2-injured-in-house-explosion-near-whitmore-lake.html I live probably 2 or 3 miles away (on the other side of 23 and of the lake), but the blast shook my house and scared us all shitless. Anyone else hear/feel it? I've heard it was felt as far away ...

Re: Fucking Covid
My sister just came down with it for the second time. She's vaccinated, but I think members of her husband's family are not and she saw them on Christmas Eve - and I then saw her on Christmas Day, before she started feeling sick. I haven't shown symptoms yet (and I got my latest booster about a mont...

Re: WWSJ 1580
I suppose it's possible they could have been on night power during the day. I thought it would have still been possible to hear them in Dewitt (where I noted them apparently off) even with 3 watts.
However, on Christmas Day when visiting family in Okemos, they seemed to be back to normal.

For anyone who cares (which apparently is nobody), WWSJ's back on the air. Heard it yesterday.

Re: 98.9 is being sold
WITI had to have been something of a headache in the western fringes of the WJIM-TV/WLNS coverage area, especially during the summer tropo season. I was never once able to pick up the channel 67 translator signal when I lived in Saline, for what that's worth. Of course, my rabbit ears often had trou...

Re: LPFM filings
Make This World Foundation, IIRC, had a station on 102.3 before with the calls WEGV-LP, though the tower was located near Chelsea and the signal didn't reach Ann Arbor (which was the COL).

Re: 98.9 is being sold
If I'm not mistaken, 91.3 WCSG was the first non-comm religious station in West Michigan, signing on in 1973. At that time, I think the only other local station in the non-comm portion of the FM band was Grand Valley's 88.5 WSRX (WGVU-FM) which I believe only ran 10 watts of power then. I think 89.3...

WWSJ 1580
It's apparently been off the air for several months now. The 100.3 FM translator is still operating (illegally) and is still mentioning 1580 AM on the air.

Re: "Immigrants are poisoning the blood of this country"
If you've convinced yourself that Trump is Hitler, fine. I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise, however ridiculous I may find the comparison to be. I'm done arguing this point. You simply refuse to admit these are problematic statements that are contrary to the founding principles of this ...
