Re: RIP 89X
Between More 94 and the recreation of the Big 8 Sound (1992-ish); and certainly before Arrow and the Jeff Zippy Crowe days there was “I-94” in early 1991, which was an early classic soul format. It 93.9 was country in the early 1980's. I thought it was More 94, but I need to think about the moniker...

Former CKWW PD Charlie O'Brien posted on his Facebook yesterday that Bell cleaned house at Ouellette Avenue yesterday, save for AM 800.
The music director for AM 580 was let go, the only remaining staffer for that station.
Jack, Virgin, TSN, and/or country. Spin the wheel.

'Kentucky Rain' on 104.3 FM WOMC. Not in several years, unless you're referring to WOMC-HD-2. Aside from Christmas music and maybe the occasional play on Ann Delisi's Essential Music (WDET-FM), I haven't heard an Elvis Presley song on a Detroit analog FM in at least ten to fifteen years, probably m...

KIH29 Vienna Township/Clio is listed as "degraded".
Quality operation they're running. I still use NOAA Weather Radio when we're on Lake St. Clair or Lake Huron.

WGDN-FM 103.1 was one of the last BM stations in the state, before flipping to lite AC in the early 90's and then Country.

Re: WPON WCXI Updates - 2019
From what I can remember and the few pieces of old documentation that were still in files 20 years ago: WPON's studios were originally in the Waldron Hotel on Perry Street in downtown Pontiac. The move to the Riker Building was sometime between 1969-1970. The studios moved to 1011 W. Huron outside t...

Re: Need headphone advicex
Ever seen the frequency response on those V6's? Painfully bright. There's nothing flat about them. Seems like every weighted and averaged freq. chart I've seen puts them within 3 db-ish flat across the spectrum. If you listen to Beats I'm sure the Sony's sound bright, but there's a reason folks tha...

Mark, did you see the Atlanta ratings? WFSH took a MASSIVE dump, from an 8.5 to a 4.7. I've never seen that much of a drop in a month's time.

Re: WPON WCXI Updates - 2019
When I worked at 'PON, we had a very specific contract that had to be signed to anyone that wanted to purchase time after pattern change. Weekends in the winter were a bitch, since we had ethnic programs that ran past 5:00pm. I used to hear "YOU LEAVE F***ING POWER UP" on a regular basis.

Re: The Mount Rushmore of American music
Johnson was a good enough singer and guitar picker, but too derivative for my taste. I'd put Charley Patton, Leadbelly, or Skip James ahead of Johnson.Vic Doucette wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 10:30 amWell, finally ...
