Re: New Radio

Interesting you say that about the battery life. I have a Zenith Royal 475 next to my bed. I fall asleep with it running every night. I havent changed the batteries in almost a year, and still no sign of it getting quiet. I listen to another Zenith Royal 400 almost every day. Haven’t changed those b...

Re: New Radio

I have the Eton Mini. I like it. It’s sensitive, but if you’re not listening through earphones, it doesn’t sound good. Way too tinny. I prefer my Zenith Transoceanics. The Eton is obviously much more portable, which makes it my travel radio. I do wish it had SSB, but for $35, it’s a pretty good value.

Re: Are 50KW Clear Channel Stations in Jeopardy?

When I drove a Fusion, the AM radio was OK, but if I brought a portable, the noise came through on there too. Now with the VW, the AM radio is awful, but absolutely no noise on the portable. Whatever.

Re: Are 50KW Clear Channel Stations in Jeopardy?

That's what they say. They also simply don't like AM - they think it casts a shadow on what they determined to be an excellent sounding sound system. I believe they're just not doing it right. For what it's worth, I took that GE radio I mentioned earlier in the car with me because I had to take it s...

Re: SOME INTERESTING POINTS ABOUT FREEDOM AND THE RULE OF LAW

LOL! Masturbation? Where's your source for that info, or did you make that up too? Aren't you the one who admits to becoming orgasmic after a conflict?

This entity's lack of connection to the real world just gets more hilarious.

Re: SOME INTERESTING POINTS ABOUT FREEDOM AND THE RULE OF LAW

I'm not pissed off at all. I think it's hilarious. I'm pointing out the very obvious flaws in the crap it says, which I enjoy doing. It's like talking with a chat bot that went a bit haywire.

Re: SOME INTERESTING POINTS ABOUT FREEDOM AND THE RULE OF LAW

Don't give me that crap, that's what you meant, especially since beginning that thought with "besides", which means it's somehow related to what you said prior. We weren't talking about trailer parks at all.

Re: SOME INTERESTING POINTS ABOUT FREEDOM AND THE RULE OF LAW

I don't live in a trailer park, or anywhere near one. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Since you're so critical of people who lie, where did you come up with that doozy?

Re: Are 50KW Clear Channel Stations in Jeopardy?

HD needs a rebirth, and it needs to grow at a modest pace to not sink itself. It's not going to be instantly profitable. FM wasn't profitable for decades, but it got to profitability after being nurtured. But this could be a different world now, since radio in general in its current form is on the d...

Re: SOME INTERESTING POINTS ABOUT FREEDOM AND THE RULE OF LAW

The First Amendment states, in relevant part, that: “Congress shall make no law...abridging freedom of speech.” According to the ACLU: https://www.aclu.org/other/your-right-free-expression The First Amendment guarantees our right to free expression and free association, which means that the governme...

Re: Are 50KW Clear Channel Stations in Jeopardy?

Radio ad revenue is, for the most part, a finite pie. Spending more money on HD side channels is only going to lead to ratings cannibalization of primary stations. If they're concerned about the finite pie, and cannibalization, then why do the likes of iHeart, Entercom, and Beasly buy clusters of s...

Re: Are 50KW Clear Channel Stations in Jeopardy?

I don’t think HD is necessarily a waste of technology. I believe broadcasters “waste their time” on HD and translators because they believe sound quality is enough to adjust a business model by. I know people my age who are willing to listen to (and love to listen to) 580 CKWW even though its a crac...

Re: Are 50KW Clear Channel Stations in Jeopardy?

Look and see how many sat subscribers vs. how many people that listen to terrestrial radio. The number of terrestrial radio listeners will always out number sat radio because regular radio is free and free is always the winner. Many of my friends prefer to pay for Spotify Premium than listen to fre...

Re: Does the First Amendment Give You The Right to be Rude?

So those giving you those death threats and whatever to you are exercising their right. Their exercising a right doesn’t make you a martyr, instead you should be encouraging it, since you find absolute free speech so important. You should find it beautiful. After all, there is only black and white w...
