I'm encouraged by the rain chances for Sunday and Monday. They look pretty good right now. That's still a looooong way away, though.
The below average temps this week will help temper the ill effects from the current dry streak and should make watering more effective.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through April 26 at 9:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Re: Paul W. Smith moving to middays + other changes at WJR
I'm pretty sure Tom Jordan is of mixed race.
WJR will have a local programming block of some kind in the 5a hour.
Plenty of non-white broadcasters on 910 and 1130, both of which command audience sizes that are minuscule compared to WJR.

Re: Auto Insurance
Frankenmuth is good; have only heard positive things about them. I advise checking online reviews regarding claim handling and AM Best financial strength ratings, though, before going with any insurer that a broker may use. My Progressive bill for the upcoming six month renewal just arrived. For unl...

Re: FM power in different areas
WLAV isn't meant to be heard in Manistee and Ludington, and why would the station undertake so much expense & effort for something that wouldn't add one penny of ad revenue? Sounds like a good way to throw money down the drain for a company that is already navigating financially choppy waters. Heck,...

Re: Paul W. Smith moving to middays + other changes at WJR
There is a massive gap between 12th place (4.1 share) and WJR's 14th place (2.4 share), and of course, WJR's rank and share are much worse when examining Adults 25 to 54. WWJ's 4.1 share is abnormally weak for that station; perhaps numbers have taken a hit as a result of recent personnel changes the...

I wish WJR would sound a lot less like WJR and a lot more like WLW.

I don't believe your last suggestion is even permissible under FCC rules.
There is zero reason for WWJ-TV programming to move to WKBD. WWJ-TV has stronger daylong ratings and it also enjoys a better OTA signal than WKBD.

Re: No rain for weeks
There simply is no tropical moisture making it into this part of the country. It's been an arrid late spring. Frontal systems have had little to no moisture with which to work. Some of the better convective activity in recent days has been across the prairie provinces of Canada eastward into Manitob...

I like your suggestions a lot. Jordan reading the news during the morning show is a very good idea. I also like the idea of a news block at 6PM and beginning Sportswrap at 7PM.

Re: The Grand Prix is lame
Excellent post, SixPlusOne.
You are right that rough pavement and even what appeared to be asphalt debris from recent repaving or patching were issues yesterday.
That track would've been more appropriate for dune buggies perhaps.

Re: The Grand Prix is lame
Hard to pass when so much of the track has little to no passing room. The turns would make for a great race if the track were wider. Too much of the time the cars were driving at very sluggish speeds. I think the QLine train goes faster!
