Another week, another Wind Advisory!
Seems like the NWS tosses this out there very liberally these days.
Also, I’ve seen much increased use of the five-color storm warnings over the past few years.
Keeping us extra safe and informed, or keeping the weather news sensational? Hmmmmm….
Acceptable registrations in the queue through March 30 at 9:00a ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Library sizes
I know that smaller song libraries seem to get stations better ratings, but at what point do listeners get really tired of the repetition? With WOMC, they’re only at about a 275-song library. Even WNIC seems to be closer to 400 (but then I’m not sure what WNIC is counting as a ‘current’). With WOMC ...

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
I used to enjoy watching Paul Gross, because he’s quite sharp in his knowledge of weather. But he seems to go for the theatrics as of late. You better believe if the wind gusts are predicted to hit 35 mph, he’ll be saying could be in excess of 50 mph; and of course ‘(the winds) will be waking you up...

Re: WLLZ
Perhaps 106.7 should simply try to program classic rock properly. I think their current music approach, although not terrible by any stretch, isn't the right blend for Detroit. I think the median song age needs to go much older; late 1970s would be ideal. Music should primarily run from mid 60s to ...

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
Is it just because of how weather is hyped lately, or have we had a H*** preponderance of wind events since last fall? If I’d have to guess, I’d think that we’ve had nearly 10….

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
Did we need a High Wind Warning last night? It seems like many outlets such as NOAA, WDIV, Fox 2 we’re predicting 60mph wind gusts. The Weather Channel was a bit more conservative. I’m thinking that a Wind Advisory would have sufficed. Not sure if they were anticipating some of the high winds up in ...

Re: Real AC station
The last true AC station that I remember was WRVF in Toledo, which had a good signal S of I-96. And this probably didn’t last past the early 2000s. They did a great job of playing songs on the Mainstream AC Radio and Records chart, while WNIC was working with a smaller playlist. AC has changed a lot...

I’m thinking he’s closer to 60…his first job was at The Weather Channel in mid-1980s.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 11:54 amChris wants to remain retired, I'm sure. He's got to be pushing age 70, I suspect.

2022 Predictions
I’m eager to hear Mark’s (and others’) predictions for radio and TV this coming year.
I’m hoping that Audacy changes format at 98.7.

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
So, some weather outlets are calling for 50° plus as high on Sunday (NOAA), while some others calling for only 40° or less. It’ll be interesting to see what happens late this weekend.

I always thought that Thom Kikot (93.9, 96.3) did a great job.

Re: I'm jealous of DFW!!!
I had never listened to COL, but I tried yesterday. Bad move. After 90 minutes of just a few good tunes, with some really bad ones mixed in; and then a riveting (lol) discussion of “What is the weirdest thing that you’ve masturbated to?”, with mind-numbing comments, I’m done. This is pathetic.

Re: Detroit Radio Ratings for September
Agreed. There is definitely NOT enough 80s exposure in this town. Someone needs to take a chance with 80s hits. And it needs to be just enough to shave a share or two from the top dog. I want ZERO local presence. I assume SOMEONE has the balls to take this on. Spot on! More 80s. More voice-tracking...

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
The Tornado Warning for NE Oakland County was kind of a surprise last night, although the dew points have been relatively high lately (and it looks to continue for several days yet).

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
Look like we’re overachieving quite a bit with wind gusts…45mph and slightly over in some spots…NOAA’s guidance was 37mph…surprised that a Wind Advisory wasn’t issued….
