Re: 950 WWJ lies to its listeners
I've only heard people refer to Shelby Twp as "Shelby" in very informal conversation. I don't believe I've ever heard Clinton Twp referred to as simply "Clinton." I have no idea if Matt Benz means Oakland Twp when he says "Oakland," but since all the other temp readings he provides are usually from...

Re: 950 WWJ lies to its listeners
Matt Benz still refers to the non-existent city of "Oakland." A simple phone call by WWJ's PD to AccuWeather would fix this. I'm not defending this, but to be fair, there are recent maps that label the townships simply as "Oakland" "Shelby" and "Clinton". Further, we don't get wigged out when someo...

Re: Could 98.7 flip to classic country as a flanker for WYCD?
Flanker stations going after the competition is foolish enough. Flanking your own station is beyond ridiculous. Sure, WCXI did it with 92.3, but the circumstances were much different. It was still regrettable to blow up WTWR just to create another version of WCXI on FM. As for Duke FM, they certainl...

Re: WOMC's Jim "JJ" Johnson Announces Retirement
It's interesting to watch the same names get thrown around every time there's a shake up on the dial. Jesus Christ, many of these people are pushing 70, if not over. We are watching the names of those who were big when radio was relevant ride off into the sunset, and there are few names behind them...

Trophyhead brings up a good point.
Did Sima, or his successors, ever get any "working johns" at the Rockford station? The way I remember the story, the porta-crapper only showed up after complaints from adjacent property owners. What a classy business we're in!

Re: Could 98.7 flip to classic country as a flanker for WYCD?
Bad idea. Classic country to succeed generally needs to be 90s & 00s focused. WYCD plays material from that era where & when it makes sense to do so. WYCD is a top 5 biller among FM stations in the market, and that was before P-U Country 93.1 went away. Why risk cannibalizing that? In places like A...

Re: Constant negativity
Constant Negativity... Oh, I don't know, probably because today's scaled down version of broadcasting hasn't really "evolved" in a good way. Sure, it's good from an efficiency standpoint, but falls short in a big way when it comes to what passes for talent, and quality.

Re: WOMC's Jim "JJ" Johnson Announces Retirement
I was just told by a reliable source that Jim Harper does whatever program he still does from a home studio. From what I've seen online, it's more like a desk in an unused spare bedroom. The internet connection hiccups on WJR make for a hard listen. Harper can't get on the Lodge, and drive to the F...

Re: WLLZ Applies To Move To Diplex With WDET
8009 Lyndon was an early WJBK-TV 2 site. I think I saw on the History Card that WJBK-FM 93.1, now WUFL, was there too before moving to 9 Mile. Could the WLLZ 98.7 STUDIO been in the Cass Corridor then? It gets confusing when the call letters were on more than one facility and multiple History Cards...

Oh, please
The Breeze barely scratched the surface, and all of the sissy Ed Sheeran tunes one was forced to sit through to hear the 3 dozen R&B tunes they played was not worth the pain.

Re: WJR - Guy Gordon gets a co-host
Guy Gordon's "let me play devil's advocate" approach to everything is beyond laughable. Warren Pierce had a similar tactical approach, without actually mentioning it on-air. To be fair, Warren was never "political" and treated everyone the same way.

Re: August book
I thought we were promised a change at 107.5 something like three years ago. Chop, chop. 107.5 should be 100% Classic Soul. They should hire Foody. A couple years ago, WMXD shit canned his Sunday night show, which was excellent, and replaced it with reruns of Keith Sweat. :x It's absolutely absurd ...
