Major kudos to you.
Indeed, you called for several hours of rain and lower snow totals when most folks (myself included) thought the warm air wrap-around would be less significant.
It appears ABC 12's forecast may have been every bit as off base, or worse, than WDIV's!
Acceptable registrations in the queue through March 16 at 11:00a ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Re: Thu. night - Saturday storm system
The Weather Channel did the best job forecasting accumulations 24 to 48 hours in advance, followed by Fox 2. WXYZ gets the bronze. AccuWeather and WDIV were the worst. Both were still holding onto their 6 to 10 inch predictions late last evening, which was absurd based on radar trends. The credibili...

LOL. Hillsdale County will probably eat that programming right up. I will say that much.
WIOT, WRKR and WBNO serve portions of the area served by 102.5.

Re: Thu. night - Saturday storm system
What a crazy surface map! https://www.wunderground.com/maps/current-weather/mixed-surface-analysis The low pressure center over eastern NY state robbed a lot of moisture from our system. When moisture for our system was still plentiful, it was all rain near and east of US 23. Mild air from the east ...

Re: Thu. night - Saturday storm system
I gave that app a try. I like RadarScope much better. James Spann and Gary England used to use RadarScope screenshots on-air on occasion during severe weather coverage at their respective TV stations. That's how good it is. One big downside to RadarScope is you can only view data from one radar site...

Re: Thu. night - Saturday storm system
I'll probably be giving myself a grade of "F" for my Thursday morning snowfall predictions.
Remarkably, AccuWeather was still forecasting 6 to 10 inch totals for Metro Detroit when I listened to WWJ around Midnight. A ridiculous forecast given what was known at that point.

Kiertzner and Meloni both came from Flint - Saginaw, as did Roop Raj. All are very good.
Colthorp came from WILX.

Re: Thu. night - Saturday storm system
Now, that's a good analogy. 😄 The north coast of Ohio is getting hit hard in spots. Pretty good snow bands over Sandusky and especially greater Cleveland right now. Hartland, Highland and White Lake are seeing a blob of heavy snow right now. Terrain features might be contributing to the enhancement ...

I've done that before.
The whole UWM culture gives me major douche chills, probably much more so than Rocket / Quicken / whatever they're calling themselves today.
Something about that company doesn't pass the sniff test for me.

Switched to snow at almost the same time here.
First flakes occurred within the past five minutes. 14 Mile Rd. and Woodward area.

That sounds about right for Kalamazoo, although I think that Saturday afternoon number is probably overstated a touch.

Re: Thu. night - Saturday storm system
You need to look at the North Webster, IN radar and Chicago radar. Effective radar range is less when precip type is light powdery snow. I use RadarScope pro.
South Bend, IN is reporting a snow shower as of 11:30 ET. Ditto Coldwater, MI. Gary, IN is now dry with an air temp of -1 degree!

Re: Thu. night - Saturday storm system
There's still plenty of snow across Indiana moving this way, but it is light powdery snow with small flake size (since the air mass moving in is so cold).
The back edge of the precip is near the IL / IN border.
