Re: TV RF Channel Changes

I'd love to see them return to VHF. VHF seems to work better over our terrain than UHF. My parents in East Jordan can't get a thing now that stations are on UHF. They never could get UHF stations before but could get VHF (ch. 6 and 7) with a decent picture.

I definitely like the new graphics, too! I'm indifferent on the logo.

Re: Weekend TV is Horrid

Yeah, I rarely find anything worth watching on the weekend. Its a shame, too. Weekends are really the only time I have available to watch TV. Too busy during the week. Only thing worth watching on the weekends is Red Green Show reruns on WCMU on Saturday nights!

Re: NOAA Weather Radio

My BIG beef- the Feds did NOT give the NWR network money to tie-into the PEP's for a national emergency; so when my cellphone is OFF all night recharging, and Trump and Kim exchange warheads at 2am, my NOAA Weather Radio can't carry the National Alert. I don't understand that- as most of use have o...

Re: The Good Old Days of Full-Powered Analog TV

I sure miss the analog days, too. I'm lucky enough to live on a hill and have a small tower so I still get all the channels I used (and then some considering the sub-channels). Most everyone else I know has lost stations that they used to get, however.

Can't say I'm surprised. I doubt they'd admit to running less than rated power.

Re: NOAA Weather Radio

I use it. I have a weather alert radio by my bed. I figure if a storm comes up during the day, I'll notice it, but I wouldn't necessarily wake up at night if something severe occurred. I also carry a portable weather radio when I'm out hiking/camping, etc, since I don't have a smartphone. Sometimes ...

Re: Are most sound engineers half deaf?

bmw, you're not the only one that things sound quality in general is just crap today. I don't get it. Regarding broadcast services, excessive dynamic range compression is my primary complaint followed by excessive digital bit rate compression. Dynamic range compression is especially noticeable (and ...

Re: Blarney Stone Broadcasting and Roy Henderson

Interesting! I suppose that could still be a problem. Being on the fringe of their coverage area (in East Jordan), its easy for me to hear the ups and downs in their signal strength. And its still going up and down, too. The only thing that makes it hard for me to fairly judge the strength of 100.3 ...

Re: Blarney Stone Broadcasting and Roy Henderson

Have they done any marketing in the TC area? They'll especially have a hard time if they are just waiting for people to find their signal by accident and start listening and for potential advertisers to do the same.

Re: WWV

I'm curious, too. Hopefully, its funding will be continued but I'm concerned that lawmakers won't understand the value of WWV and may actually cut it from the budget.

Re: Blarney Stone Broadcasting and Roy Henderson

I don't know what's going on with 100.3 but their signal has been up and down. They were unusually weak most of November. At one point last week, I tuned them in and found they were back up to full power. The last couple of days, though, they've been weak again.

Re: Picasa

I imagine so. Maybe not from Google but someone will have a mirrored copy. I see it is available at oldversion.com. The only hitch would be if it has to "check in" with a Google server during installation. If that's the case, it might not work, but I don't think its that sophisticated.

Re: Picasa

Except for the online features, does it matter that Picasa is no longer supported? I still use it all the time! Works fine for me (though I never use the online features).
